From NAIA to the SEC, cornerback Dwight Lewis III ready to prove himself at Mississippi State

Former Marian University (Ind.) cornerback Dwight Lewis III has transferred to Mississippi State per his agent Greg Brookey.
Lewis chose the Bulldogs over Arizona and Wisconsin among others.
“Coach Lebby, Coach Bell, they all did a good job making Mississippi State feel at home,” Lewis said.
A dominant player on the NAIA level for one of the top programs in the nation, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lewis had 59 tackles, 12 pass breakups and seven interceptions over the last two seasons. He also recovered three fumbles. He brings dynamic ability in the return game as well.

“I’m coming with a lot of energy,” Lewis said. “Chip on my shoulder. I put in a lot of work to get here and I need to keep putting in work just to prove myself. I know the coaching staff will do a good job of developing me.”
Lewis has two years of eligibility in Starkville.
“With the guys that have been there before I can see myself getting developed for the next level,” Lewis said.
“The fanbase is a big thing and they showed a lot of love through the whole process.”
