Having visited West Point many times and run races on the military reservation and on campus, I have to root for Army. Go Black Knights!

The Army play calling there was just awful. Settled for the FG. 10-10.

This game could go on forever with no one scoring in overtime after overtime. ;)

This comment is a bit late, but have to give credit to the refs for overturning that targeting call against Navy that clearly was NOT targeting. We complain about that rule plenty, so it is worth noting that in this particular game, the review seemed to get it right.

Army-navy is never good football, but I challenge you to find a better atmosphere.

Was air force 7 years, worked for the army for 11, now a civilian marine. I guess GO ARMY!

By the way, VTCs, meetings, phone calls the entire week prior to the game always end in “go army” “beat navy”. Soldiers and sailors take this **** REALLY seriously.

It’s a tremendous atmosphere with America’s finest young men playing. Unfortunately the lack athletic talent, especially at the skill positions makes it markedly different from the game played by current top 25 teams. At least we know that everyone in the game is an actual student.

With Army sporting Old Ironsides on their helmets (I having worn the selfsame patch myself for a few years), I never doubted that Army would win the day! 😁

For some reason, I feel this is what the college game should be. Its probably the same for the Ivy League schools and D-3 schools. D-1 is getting to be too much like a minor league for the NFL.

Feel bad for the kid who fumbled. That may haunt him his whole career. They play the whole year for that game and pfft…
Agree with you. I feel bad that the game was more or less won By a mistake. I would have rather seen an outstanding play win the game.

I’m confident that young man will get over the fumble. He’ll graduate and serve his country welll.

I’m proud of both teams. I wanted army this year. Next year it will be navy.

Just before the overtime, the camera was on the Army sideline and a player was walking by just as he was saying, "We're gonna win this game!" Not in a blustery way, but in a matter of fact, full conviction way. I kept thinking that at some time in the future he might be in a far more serious circumstance where that same leadership through conviction wins the day.
I always enjoy this game!!

My stepdaughter had an interesting comment after the game as she said the seniors have to get all their playing weight off, i.e. OL and DL. They have to get back into Army shape not football shape. She said some in her class had a hard time doing it but made it.

And, for those who say there is a bigger rivalry game in CFB, may I suggest you take your bias (ahem, scarlet/gray and blue/gold) glasses off and see this game?

OL

Agreed. tOSU/scUM, red river shootout, Tobacco Road…… none of them hold a candle to this. The tradition and history of it are insane. There are other rivalries that have played more but when you connect the services to it, it’s insane.

Maybe. BUt it was a fumble. What i meant was maybe the D stops him shy of the end zone and NAvy Kicks a FG. The Army scores a TD on their possession. THat would have been a better finish in my mind..

I was a 2nd AD "Hell on Wheels", man myself and also really enjoyed seeing the Old Ironsides sticker on the helmets.(y)
Very cool! I was actually in 8th ID but, about half way through that tour, we reflagged as 1st AD. I read that 2nd AD is fourth on the list for activation if new divisions are needed (and the top armored division), so perhaps it will come to be again!
