It went to hell when Country Music invaded our fine stadium. Once you sink to that level, pretty much everything else would be a step upwards.First they came for the players tunnel, now the HUB lawn. I fear for this once great university.
Generating positive net revenue - in almost any scenario - is a good thing. These are exactly the kind of revenue generating opportunities that the school should be pursuing. They don't harm anyone else and if the people paying for them enjoy it, great. I'm a little surprised they are limiting the movie to only 1000 tickets as they could obviously fit way more but perhaps they think some scarcity is needed to get it to sell.
They should show porn. I mean....it's the summer and the Forum isn't gonna be showing movies.....Generating positive net revenue - in almost any scenario - is a good thing.
That said, do you think showing Lion King on the scoreboards, and charging admission to people who want to come in and watch it - is likely to even cover the costs of opening up, staffing, and providing utilities on a summer evening?
I would be pleasantly surprised. (shocked, actually)
Beave at the Beave? It only holds ~109KThey should show porn. I mean....it's the summer and the Forum isn't gonna be showing movies.....
Porn on the big Screen? Think what will happen to the students! Think what will happen to PSUBob92? He could wind up in traction for life after the first five minutes of watching it!They should show porn. I mean....it's the summer and the Forum isn't gonna be showing movies.....
The yoga should make money if it draws a decent crowd. The movie? Toss-up. Maybe they could augment revenue by setting up concession stand and charging movie theater prices.Generating positive net revenue - in almost any scenario - is a good thing.

I had such high hopes for you, I thought you could get through at least the opening creditsFive minutes?

I suspect it was a bit of a "clunker" given the $80 - $90/hour pricing and the rainy weather. a link to YouTube is belowAny word on how Topgolf went last summer?
Topgolf brings life to Beaver Stadium in offseason
The Topgolf Live Stadium Tour has arrived at Beaver Stadium this weekend to appeal to Penn State fans looking for a unique golf experience.www.on3.com

The mantra was always "Joe didn't want it". If I recall, there was quite a bit of irritation when the stadium was used for the various HS football championships with Hershey's stadium was under construction.I wonder how many tickets they could sell to watch a Lawn Dart Thunderdome competition?
Bottom line, they need to explore getting more use out of it. Should have been doing this for sixty years.
Joe has been gone for more than a decade, and the next significant "other" revenue generator to use the stadium will be the first one.The mantra was always "Joe didn't want it". The stadium lack the appropriate infrastructure to host a large concert. The two portals to the field level, the south end zone tunnel and the visitor's tunnel, do not provide the appropriate size to allow for the movement of modern rigging, staging equipment, other equipment now required for large concert events.Joe has been gone for more than a decade, and the next significant "other" revenue generator to use the stadium will be the first one.

They did try about six years ago. Perhaps they found out the hard way.The stadium lack the appropriate infrastructure to host a large concert. Don't expect that to be a huge money-maker for PSU. Just ask the boys who run the Big Outhouse. When will they winterize the sh|tters so we can have professional ice hawkey at Beaver Stadium?
What about these for the Pennsyltuckians?Don't expect that to be a huge money-maker for PSU. Just ask the boys who run the Big Outhouse.
How about Women's FIFA world cup? You might have a colleague that knows a thing or two about that.Generating positive net revenue - in almost any scenario - is a good thing.

Sure, if NASCAR is interested. Financial arrangements won't be much different: PSU gets essentially a flat rental fee, which isn't at all bad, but the league/promoter pockets the big bucks. What about these for the Pennsyltuckians?

Uh, uh. Whether teams (unlikely) or leagues, PSU is grossly over matched when it comes to negotiating. This is major orders of magnitude more than screwing people who look like us.Get two good teams with Penn State’s patented overcharging. Should be a win-win.

Everything now has a price tag.First they came for the players tunnel, now the HUB lawn. I fear for this once great university.
Namast-adium is yoga on the field, July 15, tickets limited to 300. Might be some eye candy in yoga pants?!?
And they are also selling 1,000 tickets to watch “The Lion King”. Get your tickets early!
Hopefully the natural grass playing field remains a priority, despite wear and tear from any events on the field (vs. stands). These are exactly the kind of revenue generating opportunities that the school should be pursuing. Yes that is the event that caused these learningsThey did try about six years ago. Perhaps they found out the hard way.
They can replace the turf in a couple of days.Hopefully the natural grass playing field remains a priority, despite wear and tear from any events on the field (vs. stands).
Perhaps they can fix the issue of field access during the facelift?Yes that is the event that caused these learnings
