Who will the BigXII and the Big East likely go after now?

Since the Pac-12 decided to hold off on expansion (for now) conference realignment seems to have calmed down for a little bit. The only other movements I can foresee are the Big XII and the Big East looking to replace lost members. The Big East probably won't look to expand immediately because Pitt and Syracuse won't be leaving until 2014 unless further developments occur such as the Big East imploding, but they will try to be proactive in finding newer members to help bring some stability to their conference. Also, at this current stage it's almost a given that the Big XII will look to try to gain solid footing after losing aTm, Colorado and Nebraska.<div>
</div><div>But who will they more than likely get, though? For the Big XII, the most obvious names that I continue hearing are BYU and TCU. If there is a 3rd choice, it doesn't seem too obvious to me. Houston could be a player but I really wonder if they would really be that high on the Big XII's list. Also, if they're able to entice TCU, then this means the Big East is hurt once again and will probably have to go through C-USA again to try to save itself. Instead if grabbing 3 teams, I think they'll go for 2 initially and looking at what C-USA currently has, I could only see 6 teams that would generate some type of interest and they would be UCF, ECU, Memphis, USM, Houston and Tulsa. Also, the Big East has stated that geography doesn't matter that much to them which leads me to think that they may even take a shot at trying to get Boise if at all possible.</div><div>
</div><div>Regardless of what either of these conferences do to try to save themselves, I honestly believe that it won't really matter as I just can't see them surviving in the long run, but regardless they have to at least make attempts to try to survive. I'm fairly interested in seeing how this stage plays out.</div>

So, TCU won't get an invite. Not sure if BYU would accept or not. They've made such a big deal about being the Notre Dame of the West and I actually think they believe it. If they're smart, they'd take the offer, but I'm not sure they realize that. If they can't get BYU, maybe they go for another MWC team like maybe Air Force. Or maybe they just stay at 9. The ACC did that for 20 years without any problems. That actually works out real good for football and basketball scheduling. Sucks for baseball and some of the minor sports finding weekend games when they have a conference bye though.

Big East is rumored to be interested in the service academies. If they don't go in that direction, I see them cherry-picking from CUSA like you say. They may also try to get Villanova to move their very successful I-AA football program up to I-A.</p>

ECU and UCF are high on the Big East's shopping list.</p>

I wondered the same about them choosing not to invite a Texas school but realistically I don't think that would be too smart on their part with their conference being in disarray right now. They'd be foolish to use that as the only excuse to not invite the last couple of good Texas schools.

that the two are supposedly working on today, they could afford to stay at 9. It's not like anyone else has any real options to leave.</p>
