Paylor who appeared to be a lock for so long now is skipping our cook out to go to N. C. State for his last visit before he commits. Hill who also looked to be a lock for so long has announced he is skipping our cookout to go to Alabama, which is his dad's favorite. Know when you are competing for top flight talent there will be set backs but losing these two will sting real bad. Also Andrews an ol we are recruiting is announcing and looks like Penn State for him

As Beamer says, "We want the ones who want to be here". Very happy with the OL recruiting.
Disappointing if it plays out that way with the skill players, but we keep looking!

Doesn't look good, but I'm choosing to believe we're in good shape with Beamer. For the most part he's done what's necessary to improve most position groups.

I'm not down on Beamer at all. Don't think we would been be in the hunt if not fro him and the staff. It's just you have to have playmakers to win in the SEC to go along with dl. If we ever want to compete with the big boys, it's a must. EX. Yesterday, Ucheat picked up their playmaker a top recruit from Ga. I was surprised they pried him loose from UGA. Mike Matthews from Parkview HS football rich Gwinnett County..

Not hard to do when you have a specific system to and proven results to sell a kid. We don’t have that. Hopefully we will after this year.

UT has that wide open pass happy offense. I look for them to sign a lot of good receivers. I do think now that the SEC defensive coordinators have had a couple years of seeing Heupel's offense, they know how to defend it better.

I heard Tim Tebow talking about this. He seems to think that knowledge matters less than the athleticism of the defense. You give them a zone to cover and then defenders have to have remarkable ability to diagnose and respond in a hurry. If you can't crash and disrupt on the line of scrimmage, you probably can't stop them if they are in any way right. I'd like for someone to find the secret but the rules now favor the offense a great deal.

And have for a while now. In other sports too. The powers that be change rules to make it easier to score more points, runs. Seems to be what most fans want. Not me. I want a touchdown or run to really mean something. Guess I’m old school

I as well. If you can write rules to favor one side or the other, then you can write rules to make things fair.

Two of the greatest games I ever attended in person, our win over UPC in 1969, and our win over Georgia in 2001, were low scoring games.

You don't see people messing with soccer or ice hockey, which often produce low scores, but folks go crazy over both of them.

Soccer is designed to make scoring difficult. Hockey? The goalie is as big as the net

I'm not speaking for myself. I'm expressing what I have observed about the the ardor of those who are into these activities. Certainly everyone else detected that.
So you weren't addressing your interests, but the interests of others?

Baseball does this *** much as any sport, lower the mound, lower the seams on the ball, no shift, bigger bags, less throws to first, less reliever changes and if all else fails wind the ball tighter, faster game and more offense, I like it. I guess when everybody is throwing mid to high 90's you have to do something.

KingJoseph Edwards just publicly named us his leader last week. He’s a huge talent at a much needed position (DE) that for some reason we aren’t talking about more. It would be HUGE if we can keep the lead and get him.

I've seen a lot of people downplaying him lately. We'll see how it plays out.

Speak for yourself.
King means for the masses that enjoy the "outdoor party" known as soccer. The interest is huge. Look at what is happening in Miami with Messi going there. Building a new arena and all. But personally, I agree with you. games that end 1 to 0 are somewhat underwhelming. When I lived in the SE in the 90's and Bobby Cox and Braves were rolling with wins, many of those games were all defense with that pitching staff and just not that exciting. Unless you have hours to wait for the denouement.

Soccer is the best team sport on the planet. And I'm not a huge soccer guy. Individual efforts are less impactful in soccer than any other sport.

Another recruiting kick in the nuts as Andrews announces yesterday for Penn State. Terrible trend lately. Terrible. Apparently, our NIL profile ain't making it.

Andrews wasn’t a surprise though nobody ever had us as his leader or even really close. Was honestly surprised we were in his top group.

It’s just how you want to view it. I think our class so far is fantastic and we have one of the best o-line classes in the country. If signing day was yesterday I’d be ecstatic with the class sans the d-line misses. Train has slowed down but we’ve got 5 months til signing day. Let’s just see how it all plays out in the end.

When you're us and you have areas of obvious deficiency, you have to pour it on and keep pouring it on. But, as you say, Signing Day still lies ahead. I'll be honest about the outcome. I'm sure I can count on you to do the same.

Whew, more predictions of Paylor to NCST. I’m not normally one to hit the panic button, but this one is concerning. He’s claimed us as his leader several times over the last few months. Not sure what is going on, but it’s never a good sign to lose guys that have publicly named you as a leader.

Agree on Andrews. I’m sure PSU was happy to get one from us after what we’ve done in the NE the last couple of classes.

I'd rather watch a Hallmark movie marathon for an entire holiday weekend than be forced to watch a single soccer game.

I've begun to feel like these recruits put together a "top five" list just to keep the attention focused on themselves. I think most know where they are going pretty early on but don't want to commit early and lose all the attention.

Felt the same way until my kids started playing soccer. It's a great sport...but I'm not going to waste time trying to convince SC folks of it. One of the many reasons I like it is the rules are the rules. They don't change them every year for stupid reasons like "the game is too long". I hate that every year you have to spend time getting used to the new rules in baseball and football.

Well, I give you that. To my knowledge, rules for soccer in America are the same as elsewhere, though most Americans find soccer very long and very dull. All that non-stop action to end up with a 1-0 game. But they haven't contrived anything to generate higher-scoring games just to cater to a short-attention span generation.

I agree with you about the rules. One thing I do like about soccer is the way the clock is run. They don't stop the clock much at all, some injuries and reviews are about all I can think of. The stoppage time at the end of the game ensures that the full 90 minutes is played.

Yep. I can do without the faking of injuries. But as least it doesn't kill time b/c they just add that time to the end of the half.

The problem with US soccer is that the product just isn't good. Watching EPL is a lot more entertaining and exciting than MLS. It's like watching USFL vs NFL. I think it's getting better, but still nowhere near what you get overseas.

It's not long at all. 90 minutes and the clock never stops.

Disappointing if it plays out that way with the skill players, but we keep looking!

Upgrading the OL was an absolute must. Essential in the SEC. Yeah, it'll be disappointing if we lose on the skill guys, but the class will be far from a failure if we drastically upgrade our OL like it appears we will.

You are absolutely correct. SEC success begins on the los. If these prospects pan out the ol will take a quantraun leap forward. Now we need the same quality on the dl to complete he los.
