Officiating has been abysmal this season and has highlighted the great need for a better approach to officiating. CFB is a billion dollar enterprise. With what’s at stake, the P4 conferences, at least, should have full-time refs. Get things standardized and have real oversight. Is there any actual oversight right now? You can file a grievance after a bad call, but you can bet the conference office will come back with a statement defending the refs.

And don't fine coaches for criticizing the refs. This makes no sense to me. Players are sure criticized. Coaches are sure criticized. Why are refs above criticism?

I guess the answer to your last question is because it's too late to do anything about the errors being criticized and part time refs are difficult to hold accountable.
I think a sport which generates this kind of money should have ''professional'' officials.
