Aaron's biggest problem a couple seasons aga was finishing takedowns. He has been in that room for more than 2 seasons. I really want to see where he has progressed too. If he gets a shot I think he is way more than most will be able to handle.I'll raise my hand (again) stating that a healthy Aaron Nagao will give Davis more than a casual battle for the slot. Out of sight does not mean out of mind.
Of course Blaze and Ono are in pole position no doubt, but if either redshirts I am going to lean Aaron wins the spot, most likely at 141.
My memory is his setup is outstanding, faking to the near leg and getting to the far leg with ease but he got so deep with it that he had a hard time finishing. Maybe he was going too low on the leg he attacked and couldn’t work his way into a finishing position.Aaron's biggest problem a couple seasons aga was finishing takedowns. IMO it was shot selection. A lot of his shots seemed to be intended to force a scramble instead of score cleanly.Aaron's biggest problem a couple seasons aga was finishing takedowns. This is what I remember. His whole goal seemed to be to get into a scramble and scratch it out for a takedown, rather than take a good shot and finish it off. Was pretty frustrating. Then again, he is infinitely better than I was, so it’s hard to criticize too much.IMO it was shot selection. A lot of his shots seemed to be intended to force a scramble instead of score cleanly.
It seemed like everyone could pick his ankle.I thought he was getting taking down too often with the opponent shooting and finishing...
I had a hard time when I found out there was no Santa Claus, now this!
It was mentioned very much in passing. Nolf lives just outside Austin now, so going to OK makes sense. Jason appears to be dabbling in a bunch of stuff right nowI had a hard time when I found out there was no Santa Claus, now this!
Man... Bo is in the wrong weight class.
Exactly.
For a little context, 3 police officers in York, PA were killed on 9/17 while serving a warrant, and 2 others were injured and are in the hospital. It's a horrible situation for the families of the 5 officers, and my posting the above tweet is not meant to slight the other 4. As we take an interest in wrestling in general, with PA high school wrestling and NCAA D1 college wrestling being of particular interest, I thought the above should be noted. The below link provides more info about the incident involving the law enforcement individuals that took place on 9/17.

3 officers killed, 2 wounded in shooting in York County: What we know now
Here's what we know about a shooting that killed three police officers and wounded two law enforcement officers in York County.www.ydr.com
As former L.E. myself this is so sad and brings up some painful memories. And to be ambushed like this makes it even worse. Back in 2011, one of my fellow SDPD officers, Jeremy Henwood, was ambushed and killed for absolutely no reason at all. The suspect just wanted to kill a cop. The officer was stopped in traffic and the suspect pulled up beside him and shot him without warning. The shooting occurred on a main drag that all of us drove on numerous times every day.Pretty remarkable for him to have been a D1 NQ. He was a 1x SQ, went 1-2/DNP at Hershey, losing to the S7 and S8 placers. Also, there were 89 D1 programs in 2007, with the same 33 NQs/weight, so qualifying was harder than today. Says a lot about his drive and mental toughness.
He died a hero. His killer ambushed the police, and the warrant was for stalking an ex-girlfriend at her mother's house. Becker and his fellow officers probably saved the lives of 2 innocent women. It's just such a shame that they had to give their lives.

Some of you may remember the national news story about Jeremy buying a young boy some cookies at McDonalds minutes before he was shot. It was always a touching reminder to me that being a good officer was so much more than just the law enforcement side of it. The day after Jeremy was killed we had to cut the lock off his locker to retrieve his personal property. It was a heartbreaking moment I will always carry with me. I saved that lock for many years and passed it on to a fellow SDPD officer when I retired in 2019. I just felt like keeping the lock among SDPD officers was one small thing I could do to honor Jeremy's memory. Jeremy was unfortunately one of far too many SDPD officers who were shot and killed during my career.

Well I hope your son isn’t in Iowa City. I hear it worse than Juarez there. My son swore in as an officer yesterday. Daughter is a firefighter... Proud but always scared.
He gets it.I’ve read and re-read this articles a few times now and I really appreciate KD’s coaching philosophy. It’s so common in the club wrestling scene (especially youth) for coaches to flaunt credentials and personal accomplishments just to get a kid to wear their gear for a single tournament or browbeat them into training at their club only. KD is the opposite. His kids know that he’s living and dying with them so it doesn’t matter if they miss a practice or if they ask something he doesn’t know the answer to. He’s got their best interests at heart and they know that. In my experience, that makes a world of difference with kids whether they’re elite or not.
SIAP. I just noticed this old video in which Anthony Robles says that the athlete who was his greatest inspiration was Cael Sanderson. The link hopefully will start the video at 11:21
Anthony Robles is the most inspirational wrestler I have ever watched.
I will never forget how many of the Iowa fans complained about his wrestling "advantage" since his limbs were larger and stronger than their wrestler. What a bunch of pukes.
