At this point, I'd say that it is more likely that Stans leave for an open job than resign.

Might as well top off the Week From Hell with that.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if a giant hole opened up in the ground and swallowed the campus.

The giant hole swallowing the campus could be the final fulfillment of the curse of the Indian burial mound that dear ol' State sits upon.

Shoot, I'll buy this theory. After all that's happened lately, why not?

that Gregg Ellis stole my theory. I noticed he referenced the burial mound theory in a recent blog post. Curse you, Ellis. George is getting upset!!!

It would be better on me if it waited till after 2 to open up. But seriously, you can bet there has been some talk between Byrne and Stans about the situation. It may have just been a meeting that clarified what exactly went on with the delks and hans and it could have been a little more involved. Who knows. I mean would anyone be surprised if Stans stood up at the podium tomorrow and said his bags are packed, office is cleaned out, and has a plane at GTR warming it's engines? I know it's a jinx to ask it.. but seriously.. what else could go wrong? You know, I ask this question almost expecting Raffo to be named head coach. I will be pleasantly surprised if a great hire is made.

but the thought of finally seeing if "we can get someone better" as many of you Ricky sheep have cried over my 4 1/2 years here on 6pack does make me smile. Getting VCU's coach and Cohen while getting rid of LT, could possibly make this the best year we have had at MSU in quite some time..

Heres hoping its true....

What is going on? Finally we have all 3 big sports have successfull runs back to back to back with the CWS, a bowl game (finally), and a near upset of Memphis in the second round. Finally things are looking up, right? Right? It's like losing to Memphis set off a chain reaction that has ravaged MSU athletics. Nothing and noone associated with our athletic department is safe. Key football players shooting on campus and hiding guns, basketball starters transferring, recruits decommitting, Polk's recent escapades. Now rumors of Stansbury leaving. In the immortal words of Bill Murray, "then depression set in."

Oh well, such is life as an MSU fan I guess.

We supposed to believe he's about to walk away from a job that he's going to ask to be paid 1.2M to do? Still, that's quality rumoring.

I know you grandstand on here a lot and post crap just to get a rise out of folks, but it's still hard to believe that you really hope Stansbury leaves.

Yes, we could hire a good coach. However, my confidence thus far in Byrne notwithstanding, we haven't exactly had a great history of hiring good coaches, much less good coaches to replace departing successful coaches. We could just as easily hire a crappy coach and end up back in the crapper. Of course, if that happens you will find a way to say you didn't really mean we could hire someone better.

Almost a proof of Newton's third law isn't it? every action has an opposite and equal reaction. we make it to the CWS... team falls on its face. Make a bowl game... and players get booted off the team. Make the NCAA's and then we lose a prized recruit and another starter.

that he has hated the entire time he has been at MSU, and then bolts? I wouldn't dare be so bold as to say "no way." But ,****, that would be bizarre, wouldn't it?

feels free to take his case for dictating what will happen with "his" program over the head of the incoming AD to the public, Rick has to be thinking that he can do something similar.

The inmates are loose in the asylum and Nurse Ratchet is on smoke break.

You actually are surprised that Peaches wants Stansbury gone? I thought that was pretty obvious.

and nitpick every little thing. It's quite another to say you hope rumors of his exit are true. A lot of what Peaches posts is done to get a rise out of people. It is a little shocking to think that any State fan really hopes he leaves.

I know we're talking about a resignation here, but if MSU really did fire Stans or force his resignation, you would likely get a similar treatment in the media to what we got when we axed Cutcliffe. Whether or not you can do better is irrelevant. The national media will look solely at the fact that you have been competitive and have made quite a few NCAA tourneys under Stans, and they'd crucify you for wanting more than what Stans has given.

What school in their right mind forces out a coach who has won four of the last six SEC West Division titles?

and he's not going anywhere. No school worth his time is giving him a look.

Only Coach34 wants him gone so that we can replace the King of the West with the Queen of the Mid Majors, Steve Alford. Another possibility is "Roy Williams top assistant".

but Coach34 suggested "Roy Williams' top assistant." That's right, he wants to hire someone whose name he doesn't know.

I wish some baseball programs about 5 years ago had wanted to hire "Ron Polk's top assistant."

Well maybe there is more to the Hans resignation than meets the eye.
I suspect if this comes to fruition then something big might be coming out.
I find it hard to believe that he will just up a quit.

I am not the biggest Stans supporter, but I don't see us getting anyone any better, especially without a practice facility.
We might find a better floor coach, but no way we can land a better recruiter than Stans.

Time will tell...
