Just a friendly reminder. Tebow failed miserably in the NFL. Levis should hope to not follow that path although that does seem like the type of skill set he has.

I would respectively argue your position that he failed. He became the Bronco's Starting QB beat the (Heavily Favored} Steelers in his second year in the playoff. I think the stereo type of a successful QB at that time (Considered to be a drop back type; not necessarily athletic/ runner) hindered him. As an example Chase Daniels is still in the NFL and I don't think a G.M. today would draft or start Daniel's over Tebow let alone draft.

Like it or not Will Levis is getting a lot of pre season praise. In the 2023 NFL mock drafts :
walter camp has Levis going #3 in the first round to Houston
Pro Football Network has him #7 to NYG
24/7 has him #6 to the Lions
Bleacher Report/Todd McShay has him #8 to NYG
The Sporting News does not have Levis going in the first round

Comparisons to Jake Locker? Baker Mayfield? Tim Tebow?

Poor Levis! If all he he will have to show for a lofty draft status is millions in the bank and no long career it will be too bad.

Anyone out there think Clifford has a snowballs chance of collecting millions in the draft? Anyone?

The sour grapes on here over Levis and his success in the SEC are laughable.

Face it people. We stuck with an often injured, mediocre quarterback, who will have to play into his sixth year to salvage his career.

Meanwhile the guy we used as a human battering ram had a winning record and a victory in a bowl game, while playing in the most competitive college football conference.

Tebow won a playoff game as an underdog and made millions. Some failure.

And a lot of these same publications had Rasheed Walker as a 1st round pick in their pre season mocks and we all saw how that ended up. You just never know how it's going to end up, even this years QB's, Malik Willis and Matt Corral, were projected to go in the 1st round even after the season and the combine, and ended up going in the 3rd round. We'll see where he ends up. Not saying he won't, but it is hard to tell right now.

Like it or not, regardless of salary, Tebow was an NFL bust. First round picks are expected to win MANY playoff games, not A playoff game.

He was a first round pick that had 1 playoff win and a 47% career completion percentage. As I said, he was an NFL bust. It doesnā€™t make him a bad person, but the stats donā€™t lie. Heā€™s just another QB in a long line of Urban Meyer college system QBs that canā€™t cut it in the NFL.

All true, but following the 2019 season Cliff led the Lions to 11-3 and a Sugar Bowl win. 2020 is a throw away. In 2021 we were undefeated and up by 3 scores over #3 rated Iowa in Iowa before Cliff got hurt. Iā€™m cautiously optimistic that if Cliff can stay healthy he can be a good college QB for us this year.

While a great, great College QB, Tebow was not an NFL QB, as a Bronco fan I saw it firsthand, went to camp his rookie yr and was amazed at just how awful he threw a Football. KId was a gamer and easy to root for, but just wasn't cut out for the NFL.

Agree. Like I said, it doesnā€™t make him a bad person. I like Tim Tebow, the person. He just wasnā€™t an NFL quality QB.

Levis is a stud. Cannon for an arm with a quick release. Has the size, has the mobility (and then some) and athleticism. Will he have the pinpoint accuracy and decision-making to make him a stud pro QB? That's above my pay grade, but I would have much preferred him at PSU over Clifford, who I could tell early on didn't have "it." That doesn't mean I dislike Franklin. That doesn't mean I always like the backup. It's just based on what I saw from the 2 QBs. I've been right before ... I've been wrong before ... but, yeah, I can definitely see 1st round potential in Levis.

Great embarrassment will surround Fraudklin if Will Levis is drafted significantly higher than his favored 25 year old "eye shade interception boy".

If you have to use a site none of us have heard of to peddle this argument then it's probably not a very good argument.

Also ditto, any mock that has Rattler in the top 5 is void.
ok..

Hey that's the first 4 that came up where i recognized the blog, so those were what i opened. So #12 seems like a lowball slot for Wil. lol.

Now he might have a career dampening 2022 campaign and slide to the 3rd round (that's where Sean is going.... right?). But everyone of these blogs reference his arm strength, size, athleticism, and some point out his ability to sling it into a tight window on 3rd and long. Is he that good or is it hyperbole? Does it matter? I hated seeing him leave but still think Sean is the right kind of QB for this type of offense.

But man, I would love to see him with a really good OL, this crew of RB's and receivers... and a really aggressive gameplan. Wishing him well at Kentucky and thereafter.

Could be right. Then again, if he scores a first round location he's going to be really wealthy and forever be grateful to Franklin for forcing his hand out (no, CJF didn't "force" him out.. but he sure steered him). Take the millions, invest well, live a really nice life. Or be the real deal, have a Kerry Collins kind of career and maybe win some playoff games. Either way, he walks away in his 30s with a fistful of dollars.

imo. I might be wrong.

Sorry... i missed this post when i posted pretty much the same thing below. I did post links. Interesting TSN doesn't have him going in round 1.

Of course they might base that on knowing he is missing both his #1 receiver and now his super RB. He's going to have to shoulder a lot of the load.

Actually Clifford was playing better than Levis last year before he got hurt.
I like Levis more in terms of pro potential, but still think Sean is the better choice at PSU. And while sean was playing exceptionally well, he seems to get hurt too often (likely a byproduct of our horrific OL... which hopefully improves a LOT for '22). Then again, Wil's style of play coupled with our OL was not exactly a match made in heaven lol.

Wishing great things for both of them this year!
