My take on what we’re seeing so far in recruiting & portal transfers so far, as well as apparently no staff changes is we’ve given up on next season & maybe the next one too. It’s gonna get worse. Loading up on JUCO recruits is a desperation move & won’t work.
You have to keep in mind that the rosters expand to over 100 players so these Juco guys are some of the back fill on all those roster spots.
This appears to be correct - sad to see what has become of the program. I'd hate to own a small business in Starkville that relies on out of town visitors because there won't be many. Hard to believe our President (MK) isn't wanting changes. No matter what anyone says we were a team without a "real" win this year.
I don't think they have given up. Again we have had too much turnover here. He may suck for 3 years but for some reason somebody hired him and that's what we got. Lebby himself may have been a huge mistake but it's gonna be 2 more years before we reboot and I'm really concerned these jucos may be a big mistake. Juco ain't what it use to be. Or is it ? Yikes. I think they have. But you’re right there’s a complete reboot coming in a year or two. But it’s gonna be ugly until then. And if we don’t get the reboot right (I’m not optimistic), God help us.

Yeah, so basically… we made some really bad hires where the only remaining question is how many. We can’t afford to fire any of them because we overpaid and provided absurd buyouts to said unproven individuals. And now we’re stuck in limbo, hoping that the existing clown show somehow pulls about 25 rabbits out of the hat from the portal while fending off an army of all time great coaches and recruiters who by the way… have more $ to offer these kids than we do

I think the “seriousness” being questioned is the lack of financial committment
and maybe the "lack of financial commitment" is partially caused by the lack of confidence in leadership

I hate to be so negative about juco guys because in the past we have had some beasts that we snatched from the junior colleges. We could make a whole team of great players over the years but academic requirements were different. Right ? I think thats what it was. Now if you can play they will get you in. If you can't play it's the juco route. I think we are signing about 6 or 7 juco guys...lol. Not one high school DL. Risky imo. Af
