For the first time in the 47 year history of the Associated Press Women's College Basketball Poll, there is not a single team from the state of Texas:

Funny, went to look at their latest score, and it has them ranked as #25. Maybe not AP ranked, but this article suggests the state of Texas sucks for basketball now.

Damn shame Vic's team isn't ranked. *
Yeah, Texas Tech has kind of had Vic's number since he took over at Texas. Before Vic, Texas Tech WBK hadn't beaten Texas in a decade, now they've at least split every season he's been there... and these aren't tournament teams. This is the first season TTU may finish above .500 since Vic has been at Texas.

If Vic were still here he’d be on the hot seat. He caught lightning in a bottle with those teams and I honestly don’t think he could have kept it going.

I think I disagree a little bit. I think we would have lost AEH and obviously Bibby, but I think Matharu, Mingo-Young, Rickea, and maybe Myah Taylor probably stay and the level of recruits and fan interest would have remained high (to an extent).

There are 3 things that would have worked against Vic if he had stayed:
1. South Carolina is the new UConn and he’d play them 1-4 times a year.
2. NIL, though we’ll see what that looks like with Selmon.
3. Kramer Robertson’s mom taking over at LSU.

Still, I don’t think Vic would have done anything like miss the tournament or get put out in the first round or anything like that. He’d have a perennial Sweet 16 team and that would have kept him employed.

Matharu is at Florida now, so maybe not.

What a stupid comment. You honestly don’t think? I honestly think you r a dumb *** for that comment. Vic is hands down the best coach of any sport State has ever had. And because Cohen and his weird *** wife were jealous of him… we didn’t offer to tell him money was no issue per Keenum.

Vic should still be here and I don’t think… I know we would still be a powerhouse in Women’s basketball. Not making the final four would be a disappointment with him. Seriously what a stupid *** statement.

He wouldn’t still be here. He would be at Texas A&M.

That much I believe is true and unless Joni Taylor has a big jump in the next two seasons, he still might be.

Btw, speaking of Joni Taylor, I saw her in person for the first time a couple of weeks ago when the women played A&M and she is pretty attractive.

100% concur. You don’t have to see her in person to realize Joni is the bees knees. Definitely well put together.

Fair enough. I still think the talent level overall would have risen over what it has been the past 3 seasons. For example, I think Deyona Gaston would be at State right now.

We've gained and lost a ton of players since Vic left. No way to know. I know this, we're not all that far behind Texas right now with lesser talent on paper.

I'm ok with the direction right now, all things considered.

We'd have a load of talent here if Vic had stayed. A **** load of talent! We'll see what Sam can do. His coaching looks shaky but his recruiting is fairly good.

Wrong again. You need to get better Intel before you mouth off about something you are CLUELESS on. Just pure ignorance.
Vic saw that the players he recruited into the program weren’t as good as advertised and he saw an opportunity to go back to Texas so left to go home.

I agree and I am too. This wasn't a lamentation on Vic leaving, just contending that Vic wouldn't be on the hot seat and the program wouldn't have run into a wall if he was still here.

I always wondered why he didn't just wait at MSU for the A&M job to open up. Him leaving to go back to A&M would have been accepted much better by the MSU faithful than him leaving to go to his alma mater's hated rival. And I've heard all the backstories about how he got cross ways with Cohen and that's the only thing that makes sense on why he hastened his departure.

It’s more likely that we would be building a statue of Vic than him ever being on the hot seat had he stayed.

I don’t know that he would’ve ever been as good again as he was from 2017-2019, but we would’ve continued to be good. I think having a total mismatch with McCowan almost every game for several years is a big reason why we got to be so dominant. And you do have to credit Vic and Johnnie Harris for her development. But I always felt like we were playing with a cheat code when we had her. Add Vivians to the mix and that’s why the ‘17-‘18 team was almost unstoppable, we had those two at their absolute peak. And were able to continue it for another year with the addition of Anriel Howard.

Who knows but that 2019 class with Rickea and Mingo-Young was filled with team cancers and would have caused him problems when the senior leaders like Danberry, Holmes, and AEH left

I really liked rickea, but she isn't a defender at all. I'm not sure why she ever came in the first place....although I wish we had her scoring now for sure, but with as high intensity vic likes defense, I don't see what she was thinking.

Basketball is a very difficult game. It takes a lot of hard work to become the best player. It's very difficult.

Your ignorance and lack of ANY truth on this subject is embarrassing. You just need to quit before u look more stupid. A couple of people know what happened and you guessing with whatever comes out of your mouth is just typical State gossip. If you are this clueless about everything else regarding anything Mississippi State ….. u just need to sit out on every subject. And never go to a casino. Or play the lottery. SMH.
