He will get his 8 mil, probably get 4 or 5 more, and even if he gets fired after 3 or 4 years, he’s still going to be a candidate for other jobs. Guys like Lovie Smith prove that you don’t have to win to get another job, and one more after that.If true, I don’t get why Rhule would rush back to coaching for the Nebraska job. He should sit out a year, cash his $8 million in paychecks and wait to see what better jobs open.
I have to think his Carolina pay out factors in offsets for other jobs he takes. He will get his 8 mil, probably get 4 or 5 more, and even if he gets fired after 3 or 4 years, he’s still going to be a candidate for other jobs. He gets 838k a MONTH for the next four years to not coach. Plus, he has admitted that he does not like to recruit. Don’t know how that goes over in Lincoln. But with the portal and NIL recruiting may not be as important anymore. If true, I don’t get why Rhule would rush back to coaching for the Nebraska job. I just spit up my beer!!!It’s Lincoln, NE. The place recruits itself.
2023- and they may win the Super Bowl, tooBased on everything I read here regarding Rhule, Nebby is your 2024 National Champ.
OL
I'll be shocked if this happens. His accumulated collegiate coaching accomplishments qualify him for far better than Nebby. Matt might end up at Auburn and his agent is using the NU opening for leverage. If true, I don’t get why Rhule would rush back to coaching for the Nebraska job. That would make more sense.I'll be shocked if this happens. His accumulated collegiate coaching accomplishments qualify him for far better than Nebby. Matt might end up at Auburn and his agent is using the NU opening for leverage.
That's an interesting take. His heart is to get the PSU job, but in the interim he could re-assemble his cadre of TX HS coaches from Baylor and enjoy a higher level of success than Jimbo. Baylor messed up by hiring Aranda instead of one of Matt's disciples. If he waits, I think he should wait for the TAM opening.
Very well may. I wonder if it’s different if he goes the college route vs NFLI have to think his Carolina pay out factors in offsets for other jobs he takes.
Yeah, I don’t get why he wouldn’t take a year off. Do some game analysis on tv and then take a better opportunity elsewhere. He gets 838k a MONTH for the next four years to not coach. I think that's why he's jumping on the first power 5 gig. After the way he stunk it up in Charlotte, I’m shocked that anyone would want him.
Considering he built up Temple and Baylor from nothing to good teams - he may not like to recruit but he is pretty good at it.He gets 838k a MONTH for the next four years to not coach. Nebraska is in a very bad place and they have been for a very long time. Those championships feel like lifetimes ago.Better jobs? How many other programs have won 5 National Championships? If Rhule gets the Nebraska job, he should be honored given his underwhelming coaching resume.

Nebraska’s last title was 1997. If that feels like a lifetime ago, how do you feel about the 36 years since PSU last won a title?
What was Nebraska’s last major bowl? Cotton 2007? They haven’t even been to a bowl game since 2016. They will never be back. Penn State is in a completely different and wildly better situation….
I agree Arizona State would be a destination as the PAC 12 sits right now but what's it going to look like in two years? How much can the old boosters at Nebraska drum up for NIL?I’d pass on Nebraska. Auburn is a much better job, but Rhule’s probably not sleazy enough for it (hello Lane Kiffin!). I think Georgia Tech is a better job too. Arizona State could be intriguing. Nebraska is a relic - no NIL, poor natural recruiting geography, it’s in Lincoln. Just a very hard sell these days.

How many B1G titles does Nebraska have since joining? How many NY6 bowls? How many 10 win seasons? How many 9 win seasons? Heck, how many winning seasons? I stand by my comment. Nebraska is in a very bad place. Penn St is in a MUCH BETTER situation than Nebraska. The two aren’t even comparable at the moment.Nebraska’s last title was 1997. Right. Rhule's MO is to take a job to coach a team and take them to a bowl and come out a hero then move on. The Cornholers are a perfect opportunity for that in a weak B1G West. How many B1G titles does Nebraska have since joining? How many NY6 bowls? How many 10 win seasons? How many 9 win seasons? No one can. It’s the Beverly Hills of Nebraska. Can Rhule afford a house in Lincoln?

My friend, you have gotten way off topic. The original conversation was about a comment stating Rhule should wait for a better job. This was not intended to be a Nebraska vs. PSU debate. You are arguing against yourself.
