FIFA is scrapping the 3-team groups with the top 2 advancing and going to 4-team groups with the top 8 3rd place teams advancing. 32 teams will advance to the knockout stage. The tournament goes from 64 matches previously, and 80 under the 3-team groups format to 104 games under the new format. Group stage will be 72 games over almost 3 weeks to eliminate only the 16 nations everyone knew from the beginning shouldn't have been there in the first place. Leave it to FIFA to 17 up what was a great tournament format the last several World Cups.
Also, after reading the details of the investigative report on the Berhalter-Reyna situation, I absolutely think they need to kick Gio off the team for life. Think of the worst soccer mom or baseball dad you can, then multiply it by 10. That's Gio's parents. And he's apparently not much better either.
