Would you want Grayson McCall?

Grayson’s transfer is FairPlay because he actually lost his head coach. Should be the way the portal is setup. If your head coach leaves the school, you can transfer and play immediately. If not, old transfer rules apply.
Right. The difference is obvious.

Not if we have Rattler. And I’d take a few others over McCall. I’d put him neck and neck with Doty though. Let them battle it out.

I love Luke as a a person and a football player. I've known him and his family for years. Grayson McCall is a much better quarterback than Luke, And anyone who's ever seen them play knows that. And thats ok. You can be a fine qb and not be better than Grayson McCall

Grayson has played much more football and at a lower level. Luke is still unknown. I’m certainly not saying Luke is as accomplished or as good at the moment. I just don’t know that McCall is good enough to bring in for 1 year and set back the development of what we’ve got. And I think that has to factor in.

Luke wasn’t great when he started a few games 2 ears ago. But I don’t think he was healthy either. I’m the times he played this season, he look much faster. Still hopeful he can be a serviceable QB.

Something is obvious for sure. You cried like a baby when Bell went in the portal. You ok with our best running back in the portal? Our OC has left so now it's ok or is it only if the HC leaves? Or maybe if they play in the bowl game and then leave it's ok but only if their coach leaves? Or maybe if Beamer is ok with transfers coming in, you are ok with it? Make up your mind.

I smell a rat.

I'm not sure what argument you're making. Can you find anywhere that I have advocated for us pursuing/taking a transfer?

No need to troll Luke for sure. He has been a team player. Not everyone has Rattler ability but it doesn't make him any less of a quarterback or leader. I'm in agreement with you and I hope Luke doesn't read this stuff.

I'm not sure many teams will be able to be competitive without bringing kids in with the portal. With poaching, tes will lose too many to make up for in just recruiting.

I can also see not liking it, but admitting we're forced to ise it.

Yep, definitely not a fan of it, even though we benefitted from it greatly last year. But if it's going to happen, and it is, might as well talk about it.

Maybe we should look at that system.
I was crucified on here in the last 2 years for suggesting doing that (taking the 3-4 of the offensive staff including Chadwell) and making a run in the SEC before anyone else committed to it.
He will do very well at Liberty. The offense isn't a gimmick...it's just a clever mixture of basketball on grass. The PG doesn't have to be Tom Brady or Fran Tarkenton....but it doesn't hurt having a really good player there.
Someone mentioned Doty...he's a slightly better player version of McCall...but McCall has been blessed to be in a system that has given most teams fits to deal with. Best thing about the offense is it is more defense helpful...especially at a bigger school where defensive talent should be plentiful. CCU had to be almost perfect with their recruiting on defense or else.

Do you think Doty passes as well as McCall?

I saw the Vols mentioned as possible landing spot. Guess they'll see how Milton does in the bowl.

The system didn’t work against JMU….
In all honesty, he (Grayson) was back ahead of schedule and not healthy for that game yet. Also, it was pretty much a given Chadwell was gone and it took the energy from the team for that game and Troy. You dont do as well as they had done for three years and suddenly lose that bad two weeks in a row unless your heads are not in it.
Grayson is looking to go somewhere with a pro style system to show NFL scouts that he can play that style of ball. He is a great player and great leader. I do know Mizz has reached out to him but he would never set foot there because while at App St, Drinkowitz told Grayson he was not a good QB and wouldnt offer him. They only came at him later when they lost other options and he (Drink) was told he needed somewhat local players on the team at APP ST. Grayson remembers all of that and will not give Drink the time of day. Its one of those things where coaches need to be careful what they say to players because it can come back to bite them.
Grayson will do good wherever he goes.

Doty and McCall both have an NIL deal with Native Suns here in Myrtle Beach

Agreed. But it's worked a LOT.

I don't think we would appreciate it if people took our worst game(s) and judged us on only those.
Judging the CCU offense based on the JMU game is like judging our offense based on the UT game.

That would be blatantly obvious and make entirely too much sense for us so....... pass. Also, I will argue all day > it's not the QB, it's the system. Name one Bama QB with a super bowl ring besides Namath..... I'll wait. Bama (save for the past 3 or 4 years) has gone largely with forgettable QB's but racked up plenty of Nattys.

That is the only viable PC stance for any head coach. He can't say he doesn't like it, even if he doesn't.

Yes, and you really have no choice. When you lose players to the portal less than 2 weeks before signing day, when the bulk of recruits sign, there's no to time to address the needs through recruiting. I don't think many coaches like the portal, but to say that is a recruiting liability.

I don't know why the powers-that-be had to go from one extreme to the other. From being nearly impossible to transfer to an unbridled free-for-all. There were some common sense approached that would have loosened up the transfer process without making it the chaos that it is now, and one that is certainly rife with tampering.

Ah, so hopefully you're just making the statement ironically?

This why games can be used, imo , but I prefer season long stats.
Sure, competition level is also a factor. I just don’t get the Chadwell worship on this board.

i would say a lot of people don't get the chadwell worship. that's why, of all the jobs that have been open the last several years, he ended up at liberty. not saying he won't eventually be a good p5 coach, but it's not just a few fans who didn't think he was ready for it. a bunch of ADs did as well.
