WR Room seems pretty full

Christian Driver left, and most suspect that KLS is going to the NFL draft. Possibly Cephus will go to NFL draft. No other player has announced departure.

In addition we have 3 WR's in the 2024 class - assume that is done.

How do we have room for recruiting 2-3 more WRs in the transfer portal? What happens if KLS and Cephus come back?

Why does anyone think KLS and Cephas to declare for the NFL draft? They would only help themselves by staying and having a better season next year in a more open offense.

Expect at least 4-6 from this yrs group to be gone… one way or another.
I agree I would think JF encourages several to seek their playing time elsewhere. There is a large disconnect here in either talent evaluation or coaching. That room is full of 4 star WR yet KLS seems to be the only one who can remotely get open.

KLS struggles to get open at times also.

in the interview with our new OC (when he was at Kansas) he talked about how scheme helps get WRs open. also Omari Evans seems electric - where has he been?

I thought cephas was a grad transfer? He was another year?

He was, but I believe he has his covid year available.

Injured for majority of the season. Believe he even fell ill at one point, but I can't confirm.

I mean, he was a red shirt Freshman last year. He will be a RS Sophmore this year. He has time.
No, I agree. It just seemed like the offense was desperate for a WR to break out and I was expecting him to flash more.

Easy. After the bowl game at least 25% of the WRs will be gone. I expect a couple will take their chances in the NFL draft (KLS and Cephas) and several other WRs will be asked to move on.

So many times this year 4 or 5 receiver sets to me felt like we were playing with only 8 on offense. Later in the year when we began splitting out TEs and RBs I think we all knew WR was a problem. It was very confusing considering even mid tier Bigs with perceived less talent could occasionally get separation. Was talent, scheme, inexperience at QB the issue, all three? I have no idea, but what a lost opportunity this year. I know they were trying to bring Allar along slowly and not put everything on him to win games but to me 15 three and outs in a row against OSU equated to 15 turnovers albeit long yardage but still a change in possession. It got to the point that it seemed Allar was so concerned with throwing a pick that he couldn’t convert a 3rd down. I never thought a Yurcich offense would look like that. All that to say whether recruiting or development, changes had to be made. How fast can an offense be turned around? I’m excited to see.

I have a sense that one or both will stay. KLS just added a new NIL deal. Cephus arrived late and with the accompanying slow start, made year 2 likely. I can't see either with attractive draft prospects coming off this season. I'd like to see Wallace and Evans, with a portal guy or 2 mixed in. Then if Warren stays, I think the O will have the adequate weapons for Nick to create a plan.

Also may be up to the new OC.... He will be watching all their tape this year and see if he "encourages" some WR's to seek their fortunes elsewhere.
