I really like it when Ole Miss gets it stuck to them. This new signing rule and the one and done rule is directed at Ole Miss. Now the more I think about it, it kind of pisses me off. Just like the whole cow bell issue, it's just the SEC sticking it to a Mississippi School too keep them down.I am not really a conspiracy guy but I can see how they would not want the smaller schools who bring less to the table being a power in any sports. They want the big dogs to stay on top and they will do what ever they have to keep it that way. It's all about money to those clowns at the SEC office. Not sportsmanship or student athletes which it should be about. Just my opinion.

Saban is not going to be able to sign people and give them a tryout for a year then let them go. They will not be able to sign players just to keep them from other schools.

Heaven forbid that Alabama have to actually evaluate their talent and then develop a player.

I think once the ***** 12 adopts the same rule, the playing field will be level.

but that's not the reason it happened. It happened because of Ole Miss was benefiting from it. Alabama will still be able to get the best players that qualifiesand Ole Miss will get the best that don't. Alabama can survive it a lot better then Ole Miss. It definitely don't hurt us.

this could force these kids to go ahead and commit earlier. With a hard cap at 25 once you get 25 commitments you are done.

After the Masoli deal,Cam and Cecil, and the over signing issue he threw the media a bone. Notice how any discussion of the 'Cecil' rule magically disappeared.

Maybe I missed last season but when did Ole Miss benefit from it? All I saw was Ole Miss embarrass the SEC by bringing in a guy who just got kicked off the team he played on for four years. I saw tons of press about how broken the transfer rule is and how the SEC should step in and stop it. It wasn't appropriate for them to do something during the season but now they have put a stop to it. With the very rare exception one year graduate students aren't going to come in and be the life blood of a team. Once you have spent 4 years playing football and haven't been drafted you aren't usually best of the best material (or you have a trail of issues we shouldn't be touching).

I like that rule much better than the 25. I believe the 25 helps us NOW but that may not be the case forever. But since it does royally %$*+ Bama and the "Saban style" of over signing to horde talent from smaller SEC schools like us I'm not going to ***** too hard.

Mississippi high school players are raw and require much more scrutiny to make good decisions. If we can get raw players early before they become more refined during their senior seasons, all star games, etc, we will be able to keep more Mississippi talent in state. An Alabama would be far less willing to take a risk on a player earlier than we would, and our coaches have the time to deeply evaluate players in Mississippi at camps, during their junior years, etc.

masoli was a juco transfer. not trying to split hairs, just getting you the truth. and i don't think it's that big a deal. if i'm not mistaken teams signed more than 28 before, so they will likely still sign more than 25 now and 'hep' the left overs by grayshirting

Masoli was a transfer from Oregon, where he got kicked off the team for robbing a frat house. He was able to paly immediately due to the grad school transfer rule because everyone knows he really, really wanted to become a park ranger.

i was saying that he was a juco transfer to oregon. he did not spend 4 years there. i may be wrong but i believe he played only one year at a juco though
