That might make it hard for Amazon to bid on broadcast rights.
How does Bezos owning the Nats intefer with NFL broadcast rights? Bezos has been rumored to wanting to buy a NFL team. If that happens, I see Bezos completely removing himself from Amazon. he has already giving up control. Jassy is CEO. Bezos is executive chairman, which usually means they are there to help guide CEO before they officially leave the company.

I was referring to Amazon bidding on MLB broadcasting rights, which if they did could be potentially problematic if Bezos owned one of the teams.

As a Birds fan, I hope Snyder stays as the owner of the Commanders for a long, long time. But Washington fans really do deserve better.
I very much doubt the NFL owners will vote him out. We’ll see.

So the House opened up an investigation based on unsubstantiated rumors, even though the numbers are audited by the team, NFL, and union, and then keeps expanding the investigation? Government is so ****** up these days. They are completely shameless in their corruption, and the media is completely complicit. What a shitshow.

The OP had this info in it.

The relevant part of the article I linked is that he also may have been hiding money as to not share it with his co-owners, for which he would likely lose his ownership.

I don’t know all the facts in the matter, but it’s Snyder who has no shame. Can’t trust him at all. Contrary to your usual biased half-assed take on things.

I don't understand your point, that part is also unsubstantiated. Which again begs the question, how are unsubstantiated rumors justification for starting up a House investigation? This is beyond mere corruption, this is banana republic level corruption used to harass and spy on a private citizen. I don't care what you think of Snyder, that's government being weaponized against people without any legitimate justification other than a politician's whim. It's the basis for this entire sorry episode.

Yeah, just give a guy like Snyder a half billion of the people's money (YOUR MONEY) without investigating if he's a criminal or not. SMH

"That's why they're keeping options open in Maryland and the District of Columbia as well as other sites in Virginia. Maryland said it would spend $400 million to develop the area around FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. The team would then build a domed stadium by their current home. Washington is still looking at land in Loudoun County, near their current practice facility."

"Virginia's legislature continues to discuss creating a Stadium Authority that would authorize money to help pay for a new Commanders stadium. Under one proposal, the Commanders would receive $350 million from Virginia"

You are wrong, as always. Maybe Congress has better things to do, but the inquiry is not based on “unsubstantiated rumors”, rather on the testimony of a team VP in position to know about ticket sales and revenues. The idea that Snyder is just another private citizen, rather than a corrupt man who raids the treasuries of states, is also absurd.

Why give a potential criminal half a billion to begin with? That's right, they had no reason to think he was a criminal. You have failed to answer what the legal reasoning was for opening the investigation, let alone why it was even kept open. Why didn't a law enforcement agency start the investigation? That's right, there was nothing there. Again, central to this entire affair.

Because Congress went after Goodell and the NFL first for lack of transparency and it led into Snyder.

And Congress cares about Goodell snd the NFL, why? What is the basis for that? So we now use a fake basis to investigate another fake basis? Why is law enforcement not interested in starting these things? Oh, that's right, there's nothing there to justify the now plural investigations. Banana republic level corruption at its finest and central to the entire now plural stories.

Is this the first time Congress has investigated a huge corporation that often uses public money?

Shouldn't they be doing their due diligence before handing out the money? This isn't being billed as legal oversight, these are investigations based on false and fraudulent premises. Again, law enforcement's purview.

We opened up an investigation based on unsubstantiated and false pretenses, found nothing, and are now making referrals to law enforcement who never had a basis to investigate in the first place. Banana republic level **** right there.

Team VP Jason Friedman, in charge of sales and customer service for 24 years, made the accusations to the committee. This was on the heels of a Front Office Sports report that the team kept two sets of books. The NFL is also investigating.

Your linked article talks about financial impropriety, and then links to this article where it is laid out how the financials for the team are audited independently by the league. So if you're keeping score, the team audits them, the league audits them, and if you're familiar with the cba you know the union audits them too. No one has an issue, and yet somehow the House is investigating this issue, and as you say, making referrals to law enforcement which previously wasn't touching the issue..

Yes they do. Not that I'm defending them, but they are also part of the executive branch (state level), the branch of government tasked with enforcing the laws.

Touching was actually the issue from the beginning. 😏

Which, again, why is Congress investigating something like that? Ignoring the profound irony of it, that's the job of law enforcement. Then, without basis, to take that and expand in to something perfectly legitimate? Banana republic level corruption at its finest.

Again: Because Congress went after Goodell and the NFL first for lack of transparency and it led into Snyder. Then law enforcement was notified. I don't understand why this is so hard for you to understand.

Oh, trust me, I get it. It's the why is Congress concerned about the NFL, let alone over something as ridiculous as transparency. It's a ******** banana republic level investigation right off the bat.

One basic problem here is that none of the local governments want to do business with Snyder.

Liked the headline.

The Washington Commanders' new stadium would be smallest in NFL, allowing fewer chances to defraud fans

Washington Commanders’ new stadium would be smallest in the NFL (usatoday.com)
I don't think anyone in the DC area is making any decisions about the stadium based on the possibility of it hosting a Super Bowl. A few politicians seem to be keen on the idea of putting the stadium in VA, but I haven't much enthusiasm otherwise. The delay by the legislature is probably more a reflection of the lack of enthusiasm by the general public than the dubious idea of the SB being played there.
