I don't blame Selmon for wanting to find a new job with all the negative things people keep saying about him on this board.

Please keep it up so he stays encouraged in his job hunt.

I've tried to keep an open mind but after almost 2 years, what positive "things are there to say about him on this board"? I cant say a whole lot negative (although I do have a few gripes) but I can't say anything positive, he's been very underwhelming to me

The way I look at it is that when you’re the AD of an SEC program, it’s not a fan’s responsibility to find reasons to like you. It’s your responsibility to give them reasons to have confidence in you, and after 2 years, we’ve got nothing.

Assuming that he did interview for the TCU job, I can only imagine that the question that got him was… “would you care to explain this two year void on your resume?”

He basically just doesn’t seem to exist. I hated templeton, but at least I knew he was doing stuff. Now I hated the vast majority of what he was doing, but he was active. Byrne worked in the shadows but you constantly saw things happen under his rule. Loafers probably coasted on byrne’s success, but he also seemed active. I won’t get too much into cohen, but I doubt anyone here would claim he wasn’t active. I feel like the only time selmon exists is whenever the AD is needed for photo ops.

Totally agree. I live in Starkville and never see him or hear anything that he has done or does. I see coaches, players, admins, etc almost daily eating out, ringing Salvation Army bells, volunteering at Humane Society, buying stuff at the farmers market, going to concerts, games, etc. I see Lemonis at the Smallmart grocery store (Imagine that) regularly. I saw Selmon at 1 baseball game right after he was hired and since then silence and darkness. Again, I don't have many reasons to not like him, I just have nothing to like him about.

IF (Please note IF) Selmon is actively interviewing for other jobs my only problem is the same I had with Mullen when he was interviewing......Is he focused on his job or finding a new job ?

Damn dude I thought someone of your intelligence could 17 read. Jesus H Christ this board is filled with idiots and ignorant people daily
I’ll help you, I know it’s difficult to read and interpret the kings English
I said I confirmed it, Steve confirmed it, and others confirmed it. But your lack of reading skills really showed you just picked and chose what you wanted to see.
G’day mate.
You have littered 1st grade level spelling and grammatical errors throughout this thread so you saying that made me spit my drink laughing.

I did see him, and his family, at the basketball game in Tupelo a few weeks ago. Mostly watching the games, but also speaking with fans.

I would argue I haven’t seen evidence he has been focused on his job since he got here.
Feel free to add anything I’ve missed, but these are the bullet points that I have for Selmon’s 2-year tenure as State’s AD

- State script
- Chose not to fire Lemonis
- Sent out survey
- Hired Lebby
- Created State Excellence Fund
- Chose not to make football changes

So in two years, our AD has changed a logo, created an account for donations, and hired a 2-10 football coach

Yuck. By all accounts the NIL ship appears to have been righted somewhat though. He has to get credit for that.

He didn't even create the state script. That was driven by our fanbase's inferiority complex (because it was on a baseball jersey in Omaha where we won finally) and their hatred for our first ever tenured logo (banner, which had been around for 25 years at that point). We had sampled that script on a helmet or two in 2022, but it didn't appear to be permanent. Then the haters wanted to lean into 'state', which was good, but they also wanted to get rid of the banner which did the EXACT. SAME. THING. I've often wondered if people truly never noticed the big 'STATE' across the banner.

After Cohen left, Selmon just jumped on the opportunity to make the logo his own, but it was others that originally wanted to roll with it to sell merch. Thankfully, HOPEFULLY, they'll reeled that back in, but not enough. And it helps that there is a growing discontent with Selmon.

From what I can tell, we are also the only SEC school to not actively being taking contributions through their collective as well.

First, @Seinfeld was saying how terrible Selmon was.

Second, what NIL ship has been righted? Are you saying it's good that we now have a little bit of money and are using it poorly?

Who has time for that when there's an indeed.com profile to update? That next gig ain't gonna hire itself.

Byrne was the Ninja. Selmon is the Ghost. I have never seen an AD here that was less engaged with the fan base. Byrne was a master at it. Saw and talked with him all the time. Never with this kid
I see him all the time. He was at the soccer games and I personally talked to him about football and he's always giving ice cream to students at basketball games. You see what you what

Let me rephrase that, it isn’t actively taking in water like it was.

It feels like our NIL is in a better place than where it was. I wasn’t ready to crown Selmon king of NIL.

Doesn't that just naturally happen everywhere as the program/concept grows older and we understand it better? NIL was always going to be a tough thing for MSU. To me, neither Cohen nor Selmon were right or wrong on it, it's just an uphill battle with our fanbase in general.

Me trying to understand NIL is similar to my parents trying to understand how the different input sources for their TV work, so I honestly cannot offer a legitimate argument one way or the other. It just seems to be in a better place.

The crew of idiots from Twitter (who are the same as the paid On3 mb) really need to be dealt with.

They spread so much disinformation and negativity that it would drive me out of town as well.

I think my biggest complaint is the number of other AD jobs he’s applied for. I wouldn’t fault anyone for interviewing for Southern Cal or an upper echelon type opportunity; but he’s supposedly interviewed for half a dozen or more. That coupled with his very short tenure is really something. The ink had not dried before he started interviewing last year for other jobs.

And let’s be honest-what reputable university hires him with his resume here ? Does he honestly think he’s done enough to warrant attention elsewhere ?
