Alabama‘s win total for the 2025 college football season has been set at 8.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The line was revealed following head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first season, which saw the Crimson Tide finish 9-4 overall.

The 2024 season marked the first time Alabama failed to reach 10 wins since Nick Saban’s first season leading the program in 2007.

Alabama has lost 24 players to the NCAA transfer portal since the end of the regular season and has only added eight of those back. Their transfer portal class so far ranks last in the SEC. However, there is optimism for DeBoer and his roster in year two. As of this report, DeBoer has pieced together the No. 3 recruiting class ahead of the 2025 season and the future appears to be bright in Tuscaloosa.

The line is also a reminder that the Crimson Tide has lost two-year starter Jalen Milroe at quarterback. DeBoer admitted there isn’t a lot of experience in the room, which is comprised of former five-star recruit Ty Simpson, who has seen limited time under center in the past couple of years. He’s joined by former Washington transfer Austin Mack, and Five-Star Plus+ prospect and incoming true freshman Keelon Russell.

For Simpson, he may be considered the favorite to win the job heading into spring camp. He’s the most experienced of the three quarterbacks having played three seasons so far in Tuscaloosa. Simpson has 381 career passing yards and is a threat in the rushing game, totaling three touchdowns on the ground in the past two seasons.

Schedule-wise, the Crimson Tide has a heavier schedule next fall than many other Power Conference teams. Alabama will play Florida State right away for its season opener on Aug. 30 in a true road game before hosting Wisconsin two weeks later in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide previously went to Madison for the matchup in 2024.

Alabama starts SEC play right after the Wisconsin game, and things don’t get any easier. They’ll be on the road at Georgia for their next outing on Sept. 27 after a bye in Week 4.

The Crimson Tide look to seek revenge against Vanderbilt for last season’s loss in Week 6, and then play at Missouri, vs. Tennessee, at South Carolina and vs. LSU in consecutive weeks giving Alabama no time to take a breath.

Factoring all of this in, Vegas believes 8.5 is the correct threshold to hold the Crimson Tide to during year two of the Kalen DeBoer era.
