2025 OL Mason Short commits to Alabama
Four-star interior offensive lineman Mason Short of Evans (GA) High announced his commitment to Alabama Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-7, 295 pounder chose the Crimson Tide over Georgia and Ohio State.
Short on why he chose Alabama
“When I first stepped on campus I felt at home. Especially after I was able to build relationships with the coaching staff. I felt that I could be developed into a better man, a better player, and be held accountable to play at my best against the best. Alabama really does have that factor – to be the best. With coach Wolf and Coach Saban I feel like I will be pushed every day to be better and compete. I also can see myself walking up to the stadium with AC/DC thunderstruck blasting looking up at my momma on the balcony! The reason for making my commitment now is simple. I know Alabama is where I want to play and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I appreciate all the time and effort all the colleges have given me and I don’t want to feel like I’m leading anyone on.”
Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Short
“Coach Wolf and I talk as often as we can. It already seems like he’s been coaching and known me for years even though it’s not been that long. But I have relationships with the majority of the staff. Coach Joe Cox is my area recruiter and he’s been by my school and visited me multiple times. They want me to come in and make an impact on the team. To be able to come in and get after it to win.”
Alabama tradition of winning + elite development
“That was a major factor in my decision. It’s not a 3 to 4 year commitment, it’s a 30 or 40 year commitment. Somewhere where I can go back and feel welcomed. And with the NFL they send guys every single year, and they go on to and have great success in life and in their careers. Alabama’s development of NFL talent can’t be overlooked especially at the OT position. Coach Wolf is someone who I know and trust will develop me to my fullest and send me to the draft.”
