3-star TE Danny Lewis explains his commitment to Alabama
For New Iberia (La.) Westgate three-star tight end Danny Lewis, the decision to commit to Alabama was a simple one.
“The thing that ultimately lead me to Alabama was that I’ll be pushed by the greatest coaches in college,” he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman on Wednesday after announcing his commitment to the Crimson Tide. “It’s a no brainer if you think about it.”
He picked Alabama over in-state LSU and Brian Kelly, who Lewis went viral with the other day after Kelly broke out dancing in a video.
The clip has garnered more than eight million views on Twitter. But something that excites the Louisiana native building his brand outside of the Boot.

“I get to build my brand more than just Louisiana,” Lewis said. “I get to expand it.”
Lewis is the No. 573 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Even though he is a three-star recruit, Lewis will have a chance to play sooner rather than later.
He said he will bring good route running and blocking to the team and is prepared to work for his spot in the team.
“It’s very challenging so I know I have to come out every day with my best game, best mindset,” Lewis said. “I know I have to work every day.”
