Miami (Fla.) Central defensive lineman Rueben Bain has developed into a top target for Alabama along the defensive front in this class.

He first received an offer from the Crimson Tide in May 2021 and has been on campus a handful of times since then. Bain will return late next month — this time for an official visit — he announced Wednesday night on Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder is the No. 207 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 27 defensive lineman and the No. 40 junior in the state of Florida.

NFL history catching Rueben Bain’s eye with Alabama

Hometown Miami is the school that Bain has visited most, seeing the Hurricanes more than a half dozen times over the past year. But Alabama’s talent production and NFL pedigree have made them stand out as one of his top schools.

“It’s Alabama, so you can’t really deny it,” he told BamaOn3 earlier this month. “They’re also showing me the love and showing me I can be a game-changer. It would be dumb not to put them in my top schools. The coaches really show they want me, so it’s kind of hard to say no. … The history they have, the NFL history they have, and the development history they have, you can’t say no. But just, in general, how the coaches have reached out even though they’re a big-time program.”

If Bain opted to go to Alabama, then he’d have some familiar faces around him. Bain is close with fellow South Florida natives Dallas Turner and Ja’Corey Brooks.

“Kind of grew up with them in a way. They played with my cousin, so I was always around them,” Bain said. “They were letting me know if I do come, I’m going to have to work. No days off or anything like that.”

Bain doesn’t have a commitment timeline in place, but he does also have an official visit scheduled to Oklahoma for next weekend. Florida State and Miami are also contenders to receive visits from him.
