Alabama baseball game paused after rabbit runs on field
You truly never know what’s going to happen on a given day in college sports. And on Friday night, we got yet another gem, after a rabbit decided to run all over the field in the Alabama-Indiana baseball game. Play was stopped for a few seconds after the rabbit ran onto the field.
That’s part of the beauty of sports, the unpredictable nature of it. It certainly made for one of the most entertaining delays you’ll ever see in an Alabama baseball game, that’s for certain. The incident happened in the top of the third inning, with Alabama leading Indiana 5-0.
The Crimson Tide are playing in the 2024 Frisco Classic with Arizona, Indiana, and Dallas Baptist. Alabama went up 10-0 in the fourth inning, after Ian Petrutz belted a three-run blast that went 427-feet. On Saturday night, the Tide will face the Arizona Wildcats, then on Sunday, they’ll face off against Dallas Baptist, who is currently ranked No. 23 in the nation.
Heading into Friday night’s game, the Tide sit at 9-0 on the 2024 campaign. Their biggest margin of victory came against Manhattan College, who they whipped 15-0 in seven innings. The Crimson Tide pitching staff did not allow a hit for the first 4.2 innings of the game.

Tempers erupt after 'The Game'
Alabama’s bats got hot in that one, tallying 12 hits and recording eight walks on their way to 15 runs. They had four players with doubles in the blowout. The 15 runs were the most by the Tide since they put 21 on the board in a 21-7 beatdown of Alabama State on March 8th.
T.J. McCants currently leads the Tide in home runs and RBIs, with six home runs and 19 RBIs. He’s done that in nine games thus far. Gage Miller isn’t far behind with five homers and 16 RBIs. Pitcher Ben Hess leads the team in strikeouts (14). His record currently sits at 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA.
One of their more anticipated series of the season will come against the Tennessee Volunteers, when the Crimson Tide face them on March 15th, March 16th, and March 17th. Alabama will face the LSU Tigers on May 10-12, before taking on the Auburn Tigers on May 16-18.
Then after that, they’ll prepare for the SEC Tournament and potentially, the NCAA Tournament.
