Cosby, a 6-foot-5 class of 2023 shooting guard, ultimately chose the Crimson Tide over Virginia, NC State, and Wake Forest. He also received offers from LSU, Tennessee, USC, and others.

The Richmond, Virginia native is Alabama’s third commitment to the class. He joins four-star PF Sam Walters (No. 98) and three-star PG RJ Johnson (No. 197).

Cosby on his commitment to Alabama

“I chose Alabama because it felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus,” Cosby said to On3. “The environment is great and I love the play style. The coaching staff and players are family and I fit in well with them.”

What type of player is Alabama getting in Davin Cosby?

“Alabama is getting a combo guard that can score the ball well and play defense,” he says.

Cosby has a message for Tide fans.

“The Davin Cosby Jr. show is coming to Tuscaloosa. Me, RJ, and Sam are going to turn up!”

Scouting Summary

Davin Cosby is a long-armed wing prospect. At 6-foot-5 his calling card is his shooting. He has a smooth shooting stroke that extends beyond the three-point line. The release point is consistent and he shoots with great balance. Cosby needs to continue developing off the bounce, some initiation ability would enhance his profile as a prospect, it would also help his ability to create his own shot. Right now he is mostly a spot shooter, letting others create opportunities him. Cosby is a very good athlete in straight lines. He can attack a sloppy closeouts off ball rotation and finish above the rim. He has some toughness, is a solid team defender, and a good rebounder from the wing. – On3’s Jamie Shaw, National Recruiting Analyst
