Alabama signee Davin Cosby Jr. to enroll early, will redshirt
Davin Cosby Jr., a four-star senior shooting guard, has announced that he will enroll at the University of Alabama for the second semester this season.
The 6-foot-5 prospect out of Raleigh (NC) Word of God will redshirt this season before making his debut in 2023-2024.
“To my Word Of God family, I want to thank you for allowing me to be a part of something special,” said Cosby. “I appreciate the opportunity of working with such a talented group of guys and a respected coaching staff led by Coach Byron. I want to thank Overtime Elite for allowing me to play on their platform. The arena and competition was great!
“After talking with my family, I have decided to enroll early at The University of Alabama. The Davin Cosby Jr. show is off to Tuscaloosa! #RollTide”
Cosby committed to Alabama back in September, choosing the Tide over Virginia, NC State, and Wake Forest.

He ranks as the No. 96 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 21 shooting guard and the No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina.
Cosby on his commitment to Bama
“I chose Alabama because it felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus,” Cosby, a Richmond native, said to On3. “The environment is great and I love the play style. The coaching staff and players are family and I fit in well with them.”
Scouting Summary
“Davin Cosby is a long-armed wing prospect,” On3’s Jamie Shaw writes. “At 6-foot-5 his calling card is his shooting. He has a smooth shooting stroke that extends beyond the three-point line. The release point is consistent and he shoots with great balance. Cosby needs to continue developing off the bounce, some initiation ability would enhance his profile as a prospect, it would also help his ability to create his own shot. Right now he is mostly a spot shooter, letting others create opportunities him. Cosby is a very good athlete in straight lines. He can attack a sloppy closeouts off ball rotation and finish above the rim. He has some toughness, is a solid team defender, and a good rebounder from the wing.”
