Alabama basketball freshman Mo Dioubate reveals apparent leg injury in social media post
Alabama fans are holding their breath. On Friday, freshman forward Mo Dioubate posted a picture of himself in a leg brace to his Instagram.
According to On3 Industry Rankings, Dioubate is a four-star recruit. The highly-touted talent committed to Alabama on Oct. 16, 2022. The 6-foot-7 forward chose Alabama over schools such as Virginia Tech, Maryland and Wake Forest.
Dioubate graduated from Connecticut’s Putnam Science Academy in May and previously competed for New York’s PSA Cardinals in the Nike EYBL. Head coach Nate Oats seemingly couldn’t have been happier to add Dioubate to the Crimson Tide’s 2023-2024 roster.
“We are really excited to get Mo in our program, he is a multi-talented player who can play a variety of positions. He is a big wing that is extremely versatile and tenacious on the defensive side of the ball and most importantly has won at a high level. Since we have been here, our program has done well with big wings that can play multiple positions. He comes from a winning program under coach Thomas Espinosa and we are thrilled to add him to our program,” Oats said following Dioubate’s commitment.

Oats’ excitement makes sense. Dioubate averaged 13.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in the EYBL in 2022. Moreover, the New York native shot an impressive 54.5% from the field.
Dioubate is a dangerous athletic finisher, scoring the most points at the rim (309) in last year’s EYBL circuit, according to Synergy Sports. When Dioubate isn’t finding buckets through traffic, he’s locking up opponents’ top players. At 6-foot-7 with wild athletic ability, Dioubate can guard any position on the floor.
Crimson Tides fans have their fingers crossed his recent injury won’t affect that rare explosiveness. Alabama is looking forward to a strong season after coming up short in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 earlier this year. On3 will continue to provide updates on the Alabama freshman’s situation as the story progresses.
