The Alabama basketball team has released its non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season and it should afford fans the chance to see the Crimson Tide take on a handful of quality opponents.

Highlighting the list are games against Arizona, Clemson, Creighton, Ohio State and Purdue.

All five of those should be marquee matchups, with Creighton coming off an Elite Eight appearance during the 2022-23 season. Purdue also reached the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed, but had the unfortunate distinction of being the second No. 1 seed ever to fall to a No. 16 seed. Arizona was a No. 2 seed and also lost in the first round.

Clemson and Ohio State didn’t make the Big Dance last year but had quality teams.

The Tigers finished 23-11, narrowly missing out on the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes were a bit further removed from the bubble at 16-19 in coach Chris Holtmann‘s sixth season in charge.

Still, all five games should provide fans with some quality basketball.

Other games that are notable for the Alabama basketball team include Morehead State, either Oregon or Santa Clara, and Liberty.

It’s a lineup that should test what is once again expected to be one of the country’s best teams in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Fifth-year coach Nate Oats is back after signing a contract extension, looking to take the next step with the program.

The Crimson Tide have reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three seasons and have made the Sweet 16 in two of the last three years.

That’s all a testament to Oats’ steady presence.

“When they made it clear they wanted to keep me here, I made it real clear I wanted to stay here if we could get it worked out,” Oats said after signing his contract extension. “(Athletics director) Greg (Byrne) worked it out. We’re planning on being here for a long time. We love it down here in Tuscaloosa.”
