Alabama CB Jaylen Mbakwe no longer entering the NCAA Transfer Portal

Alabama CB Jaylen Mbakwe is coming back to the Crimson Tide according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett & Pete Nakos.
After planning to enter his name into the transfer portal as of yesterday, Mbakwe will no longer do so in returning to Tuscaloosa.
Mbakwe appeared in 11 games as a true freshman this fall at ‘Bama. He totaled 15 tackles, a pair of deflections, and an interception in those outings in their secondary.
Mbakwe, a Pinson native, played high school football at Clay-Chalkville. He was the No. 16 overall recruit in the nation there as a Five-Star+ prospect in the 2024 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He rated as the No. 2 CB in the class behind only Ellis Robinson IV (Georgia). He was also the No. 3 player out of of Alabama after WR Cam Coleman (Auburn) and WR Ryan Williams.

With this, Alabama will currently remain at 15 players officially in the transfer portal. A third of those have committed elsewhere with LB Keanu Koht (Vanderbilt), DB Jahlil Hurley (Kansas), CB Devonta Smith (Notre Dame), DL Jeheim Oatis (Colorado), and WR Kobe Prentice (Baylor).
However, Mbakwe, one of the top-rated players on the roster, will not be joining that group after all with this decision to remain at Alabama.
