Bryce Young responds to Bo Nix's criticism of Alabama, officiating
Iron Bowl week would not be the same if someone from Alabama or Auburn were not taking shots at each other. This week, it was one of the Tigers’ players in the form of quarterback Bo Nix.
When discussing Saturday’s game between Alabama and Arkansas, Nix called out the officials, saying they favored the Crimson Tide. He said there were some questionable calls and showed biased toward Nick Saban’s squad.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young was asked what he thought of Nix’s comments on Monday. He said the calls officials make are something they cannot control and the Crimson Tide focus on themselves.
“That’s an external factor,” Young said while speaking with the media. “That’s something as a team we don’t look at, we don’t control. Whatever happens that’s out of our control, Coach Saban has always talked to us about making sure we can control what we can control and focus on what we can do. Any external factor, that’s not really something as a team we’re concerned about.”
Seeing coaches call out officiating is not uncommon and more times than not, leads to a fine. However, players directly calling out the referees is a bit on unchartered territory.
Young took the approach of responding to the comment without saying much. Either way, the famous term Saban uses in “rat poison” will surely fire up the Alabama locker room as the head to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.

Bo Nix full quote on Alabama bias from officials
Nix, who is out for the season with a broken ankle, is the son of Auburn legendary quarterback Pat Nix. He has been watching the Tigers his entire life and understands what the Iron Bowl rivalry means to the state.
He said the bias toward Alabama is “not gonna change no matter what happens” on Monday. You can see his full quotes below.
“Just a few of those obviously controversial calls that were in that game raises some questions for sure,” Nix said of SEC officiating after Saturday’s game between Alabama and Arkansas. “I guess unless you’re an Alabama fan. But that’s just part of the game. We’ve discussed it over and over and over. That’s not gonna change no matter what happens.
“I think legitimately you can watch the game and anybody unbiased will think that something is different,” Nix said. “It is what it is. It’s kind of how it’s always been. But that’s part of the game. But they have good players. You can’t take that away from them.”
