A-Day is an exciting tradition for the Alabama Crimson Tide, with more than just the end of spring practice happening. Head coach Nick Saban has brought some fun into the spring game, including the suits he wears on the field while watching his team. Wearing different colors each year, Saban has recently been rocking the salmon suit, with the jacket and tie matching.

During an interview with AL.com, Saban revealed how the tradition began, giving credit to his wife, Terry. He said she’s the one who picks out the outfit and makes him wear it at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“Hey, Miss Terry does that,” Saban said. “I just do what she tells me.”

Saban has been married to Miss Terry for 50 years now, celebrating their anniversary on Dec. 18. Both of them grew up in the state of West Virginia and have been at each other’s side throughout the entirety of Saban’s coaching career.

Focusing back on the suit — outside of salmon, Saban has worn blue, gray, and tan. Apparently, whatever Miss Terry likes when she wakes up, is what the head coach is going to wear on A-Day. As the Crimson Tide is set to have another A-Day on Saturday afternoon, everyone will be waiting to see the suit Saban will be wearing.

Nick Saban preaches fundamentals for A-Day

Nick Saban has his plan in place for A-Day this weekend. As part of that, the Alabama headman has been preaching one thing during practice in the days leading up to the Crimson Tide’s spring game: fundamentals.

Saban said fundamentals have been a huge part of Alabama’s practices this week leading into the spring game. He added it’s part of his plan to start preparing the Crimson Tide for the regular season, and that preparation starts in spring ball.

“Fundamental technique and discipline will eliminate a lot of bad plays,” Saban said. “Whether it’s depth of a route, a read of a quarterback, whatever it is. Defensive player not having the right eye control, looking at the right things.

“The real emphasis in practice these last two days has been getting fundamentally better execution and trying to show the players that if they do this, that’s the best chance that we have to have team success. I think the response has been really pretty good.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT, with Team Crimson facing off against Team White in Tuscaloosa.
