Paul Finebaum shares hilarious story on Nick Saban's wardrobe

Nick Saban can be a tough coach on the field but when it’s time to participate in off-the-field events, he likes to dress up in style. The Alabama head coach has been known to pull out of incredible suits throughout the years, especially during the program’s spring game, A-Day.

During SEC Media Days, Saban once again showed up in a dapper suit, leading to a fun story from Paul Finebaum during his radio show. It went back to his days in Birmingham while working with local television and Finebaum got a tour from Saban’s wife, Miss Terry. Eventually, they made their way into his closet, where Saban had a plethora of suits, dating back to his days as the Miami Dolphins head coach.

Finebaum shares story on closet of Nick Saban

“I know a lot about Saban’s dress,” Finebaum said. “I have been in Nick Saban’s closet. I have been in his closet at home. I know that sounds crazy and I am not really looking to shock anyone but I was there one morning. A local TV guy and I were in his house. We were doing a ‘Breakfast with Saban.’ We interviewed Coach, we talked to him, we did various things, and then at some point, he finally left for work.

“We had one more segment and about 30, 40 minutes with Miss Terry. She’s showing us around and we get to the bedroom and I don’t care about the bedroom. I want to see the closet. She goes ‘you have no idea what kind of suits this guy has.’ He met a tailor in Miami that was Wayne Huizenga’s personal tailor. He owned the Dolphins. The guy would fly up every year, like the big-time guys do and it was beautiful. Silk, we’re talking Italian. I mean, everything. And I really thought about grabbing one and taking it. But he does care about his look.”

While the wardrobe has maybe been updated and tailored more toward Alabama since then, Saban still has an elite collection. He is always wearing a suit when walking into Bryant Denny Stadium along with Walk of Champions. The same goes for away games as well.

Saban’s most famous suit may be a salmon one he wore during A-Day. With a pink sports coat, tie, and pants the head coach was in the color from head to toe. There must be plenty of others nobody in the outside world has been yet either. Something to be on the lookout for during the 2022 season.
