Alabama in to watch 5-star PG Boogie Fland following visit
Alabama is doing all it can to put itself at the top of the recruitment of Harlem (N.Y.) Archbishop Stepinac five-star point guard Boogie Fland.
The Crimson Tide hosted the 6-foot-3, 175-pounder for an official visit on Sept. 22, Fland’s first trip to Tuscaloosa. Now, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw, Alabama assistants are in New York to watch the No. 20 overall prospect and top-ranked PG in the 2024 cycle — per the On3 Industry Ranking.
Fland has now taken five official visits: to Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and North Carolina. Seton Hall, St. John’s and UConn have also welcomed him for unofficials. Indiana and St. John’s staffers are also at Archbishop Stepinac to watch Fland, according to Shaw.
“It was good,” Fland told BamaOnLine of his visit. “Just being able to see Tuscaloosa. It was my first time there. Being able to spend time with the coaching staff at the University of Alabama was cool. I liked it.”

Alabama head coach Nate Oats is in consistent contact with Fland, as is the Tide’s lead recruiter, assistant coach Preston Murphy. Since offering Fland in January, Bama has made its presence known in his recruitment, even if it’s competing with the usual Blue Bloods.
“He’s a great person and coach,” Fland said of Oats. “Knows what he’s talking about. Knows how to get his kids better. There’s not much more to say. Those are the main things you want in a coach.”
Fland has an On3 NIL Valuation of $227K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Boogie Fland Scouting Summary
“Boogie Fland plays with a New York flair. He has a good handle and is able to shoot the ball from each level. He has deep range off the bounce and will pull up if you give him an inch. He sees the floor well, gets his teammates in evolved, and takes care of the ball, valuing possessions. There is a floater game in there as well, with a one and two dribble pull-up. He will need to continue getting stronger, and he is a solid athlete and has average length. The confidence is sky-high, and the skill set is obvious. He has a comfort playing on the ball or off the ball in a two-guard lineup. Never afraid of the spotlight. Charismatic. He missed a lot of his sophomore season with injury.”
