Jameson Williams, Will Anderson reveal Nick Saban's locker room message after win vs. LSU
Alabama is fresh off another win against LSU, making it 10 out of the last 11 in the series. While the final score was closer than expected, head coach Nick Saban still had a positive outlook on the result.
Wide receiver Jameson Williams and edge rusher Will Anderson revealed what Saban’s message was after the game. Both said he was proud of the team for being able to play a complete game.
“The message was he loved how we went on there and fought for the whole game, 60 minutes,” said Williams during the post-game press conference. “We got things to fix, got things to clean up but he just loved how we played a whole game, 60 minutes, and didn’t let up.”
Outside of quarterback Bryce Young, Williams has been the bright spot of the Alabama offense. He hauled in 10 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown against LSU.
Anderson was just as big of a star on Saturday, having 12 tackles, 4.5 of which were for a loss, and 1.5 sacks on the night. He piggybacked off Williams’ answer a bit, reiterating Saban loved how the Crimson Tide fought through adversity.

“We went out there, we played tough,” Anderson said. “We played until the last time of the clock. We don’t look at the scoreboard, we don’t look at the clock, we don’t look at any of that. We just play until we get a whistle blow and that’s one of the biggest things [Saban] stressed. Loved that we went out there and fought, we had each other’s back and we were just relentless.”
Saban talks about Alabama’s problems
Even with the win, Saban pointed out there are a few things his team needs to get better on. One was running the ball, where it was a historically bad night for the Crimson Tide.
“I think there are a lot of things in the game that we probably didn’t do well,” Saban said during his post-game press conference. “We did not block them upfront very well. We did not run the ball very well. On offense, we couldn’t run it at the end of the game when we needed to. We were not as effective on third down, we had some protection issues. A lot of things we can fix. I think we got to fix them so we can be a bit more consistent.”
With New Mexico State on the schedule, Alabama will have some extra time to fix their issues. Arkansas and Auburn remain on the SEC schedule, with a birth to the conference championship game in Atlanta yet to be decided.
