WATCH: Nick Saban reacts to appearing in lyrics of latest Walker Hayes' song

Having artists pay homage to their favorite athletes and sports figures in nothing out of the ordinary, but it’s not everyday that the love is sent the way of the head coach. Country artist Walker Hayes name dropped Alabama head coach Nick Saban in his new song ‘AA,’ and was able to showcase Saban’s reaction to his song on social media.
“I think Nick likes it,” Hayes wrote. “He cracked a smile.”
Saban, who is one of the most successful head coaches in college football history, has won six national championships at the helm of the Crimson Tide program. With a unprecedented win percentage (88 percent, 183-25), eight SEC Championships, nine SEC West titles, 44 consensus All-Americans and four Heisman Trophy winners over 15 seasons, no coach in college football today can lace his boots in terms of accolades and accomplishments over the same span.
So, naturally, a country music artist will mention his home-state head coach that has brought his favorite football team so much success.
The lyrics of Hayes’ song are as followed:
I’m just tryna keep my wife from figuring out
That I married up and she married way, way down
In Alabama where they love Nick Saban (Roll Tide)
Tryna write a song the local country station’ll play
While Hayes sings about the Alabama faithful loving Saban, that isn’t true for other parts of the country. Most recently, a war of words between Saban and the folks at Texas A&M sparked headlines across the college football world.
The Alabama headman accused Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher of buying every player on his roster, called out the Miami basketball program for paying recruits $400,000 deals to join the team and even called out FCS powerhouse Jackson State for paying their top recruit a million dollars to join the program.

“I know the consequence is going to be difficult for the people who are spending tons of money to get players,” Saban said via AL.com. “You read about it, you know who they are. We were second in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness.
“We didn’t buy one player. Aight? But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future, because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.”
Saban has since said that he should have been more clear in his wording Wednesday night and that he shouldn’t have singled anyone out, but doesn’t regret his words as a whole.
