The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Saturday night’s SEC Championship matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs with a clear gameplan.

Kirby Smart’s defense has posted unprecedented numbers this year, but Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has crafted a masterful game plan so far.

Leading 24-17, Bryce Young and the Crimson Tide offense immediately went back to what was working since the initial whistle as the second half began.

The offensive line held up, giving Young plenty of time. The Alabama Crimson Tide’s dynamic duo delivered yet again. For the second time today, Young connected with Jameson Williams on a bomb for a 55-yard touchdown.

As the fourth quarter nears, Alabama holds a 31-17 edge. The Crimson Tide has already amassed 448 yards and Williams is closing in on 200 receiving yards on the day.

Williams’ contribution is even more significant considering the other Alabama Crimson Tide star wideout John Metchie suffered a leg injury in the second quarter.

On the way to the locker room, he heard loud support from the Crimson Tide faithful.

“Metchie! Metchie! Metchie!” the fans cheered as one of their best wide receivers slowly made his way off the field with the training staff.

Late in the second quarter, Metchie suffered a non-contact injury in his left knee. While running a route, he turned back to face his quarterback, grabbed his left side, and went down.

He slowly walked off the field with the help of Alabama staff. The wideout was seen squatting on the sideline with his helmet on shortly thereafter.

While the loss to Metchie wasn’t ideal and the severity of his injury is unknown as of now, Alabama didn’t look back.

As Georgia sought a comeback with the momentum clearly favoring Nick Saban’s group, the Crimson Tide defense came up huge with a Jordan Battle pick-six of Stetson Bennett, making in a 38-17 game.

Georgia answered with a rushing touchdown to cut into the deficit, but at the two-minute mark, Alabama sealed the deal to make it 41-24.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Young was 23-for-39 with 380 yards and three touchdowns. Jameson Williams is Alabama’s leading receiver once again with seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns, including a 67-yard score and a 55-yard score.

In the unprecedented victory, both teams will finish 12-1, and the reigning national champions will notch their 29th SEC title. Since Georgia had such a dominant regular season, it is likely the SEC will have two teams in the College Football Playoff. It would be Alabama’s seventh appearance in the postseason tournament; the only year they did not make it was 2019. Georgia’s sole appearance came in 2017, and they lost to Alabama in the national championship game.
