Alabama DE Jayshawn Ross is expected to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. On3’s Pete Nakos has confirmed those intentions this morning.

Ross just finished his lone season as a true freshman with the Crimson Tide. He appeared in one game against Mercer in mid-November but did not record any statistics on defense.

Ross, a Kansas City native, played high school football at Liberty North. He was the No. 144 overall recruit there as a four-star in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as a Top-20 edge in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state of Missouri. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. With that, Ross was just outside the Top-10 of the 28 total signees from the last class for the Tide, which ranked at No. 2 in On3’s Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Now, once he officially enters the portal, Ross will be the latest transfer loss during this cycle for ‘Bama. To this point, 17 are or were previously in with 14 of those having already committed elsewhere all prior to Christmas. Of the three uncommitted, a pair, like Ross, have entered themselves since the team’s bowl loss earlier this week in a pair of wide receivers with Jaren Hamilton and Amari Jefferson.
