The hype is only building for Carlsbad (Calif.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Julian Sayin. The Alabama commit is touted as a top dual-threat prospect, one that Crimson Tide fans can’t wait to arrive in Tuscaloosa in 2024.

On Saturday night, Sayin took the field for the second game of his senior season — and proceeded to dominate. In a nationally-televised 48-14 win over Chula Vista (Calif.) Mater Dei Catholic, Sayin completed 12 of his 14 pass attempts for 138 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 63 yards and a score on the ground.

The 6-foot-1.5, 190-pounder was gifted fantastic field position by the Carlsbad defense on multiple occasions, but that didn’t stop him from showing off his pinpoint accuracy and ability to extend plays on his feet.

“It’s like a regular game for us. Just have a little bit more cameras,” Sayin told BamaOnLine. “Almost all of our home games sell out, so we’re always playing in front of big crowds. We play in front of 8,000 or 9,000 people each week, so it’s not too much pressure for us.”

Sayin is the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 QB in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s the No. 1 player in California and is On3’s No. 1 signal-caller.

The QB is the headliner for Alabama’s No. 4 recruiting class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. He’s one of seven top-100 overall prospects, alongside Clay-Chalkville five-star athlete Jaylen Mbakwe, Carrollton (Ga.) four-star Caleb Odom, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star cornerback Zabien Brown, Lindale (Texas) four-star interior offensive lineman Casey Poe, Birmingham (Ala.) Parker four-star defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star safety Peyton Woodyard.

“I think our class is good,” Sayin said. “We don’t have a huge class, but it’s a really talented class. We have good guys and good players in there. We’ve got Zabien [Brown] and Peyton [Woodyard]. Jaylen [Mbakwe] and I were early in the class. Just a lot of good guys, talented guys.”

Sayin has an On3 NIL Valuation of $779K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Julian Sayin Scouting Summary

“The most refined and accurate passer in the 2024 cycle. Measured in at over 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a 9.25-inch hand prior to his senior season. Touts one of the quickest releases in the cycle with a tight, compact throwing motion. Has outstanding overall mechanics. Consistently throws in rhythm, marrying his eyes, upper body and feet. Generates good zip on short and intermediate passes. The ball gets out quick. Layers his passes with ease, delivering with advanced touch. Hits receivers in stride. A good deep ball thrower. Comfortable passer on the run with the ability to deliver from off-platform. Navigates the pocket with ease and with intention. Plays on his toes and has quick, reactive feet. A surgical passer on Friday nights. Decisive passer who reads the field quickly and efficiently. Turned in an efficient junior season, completing 66.5% of his passes for 2,708 yards (11.1 yards per attempt) and 27 touchdowns against 4 interceptions. Also rushed for 154 yards and three scores. A standout in neutral settings, as he was named the On3 MVP at the Elite 11 Finals and OT7 Finals prior to his senior season. Does not possess the eye-popping physical traits of some of his highly-touted peers. Can continue building on his improvisational skills and overall creativity as he often wins from within structure. Considered a very safe quarterback prospect with a high floor at the next level.”
