Alabama football names permanent captains, hands out annual team awards
The Alabama Crimson Tide held its annual post-regular season awards banquet on Sunday evening. The team secured their bid to the Cotton Bowl with their win over Georgia on Saturday and celebrated with awards all around.
On top of awards for MVP, top scholars and the unsung heroes, head coach Nick Saban also announced the winners of the permanent 2021 captainships. Starters Bryce Young, Evan Neal, Phidarian Mathis and Will Anderson Jr. received the most votes from their teammates to win the awards.
Bryce Young also earned all-around team MVP from his teammates. After his performance versus Georgia with 421 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, an additional 41 rushing yards, and a rushing score, Young is the runaway favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
