Alabama football: Tommy Rees contract length, figures revealed
Details surrounding the length and compensation for new Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees have been revealed.
Rees is on a three-year deal with the Crimson Tide, running through the 2025 season, per Mike Rodak. In 2023, he is going to be paid $1.9 million. That goes up to $2 million in 2024 and $2.1 million in 2025.
Because Notre Dame is a private school that rarely if ever releases contract details, it can be difficult to make a direct comparison. However, according to Football Scoop, Notre Dame was giving Tommy Rees a similar contract, implying that finances didn’t go into his decision making process.

Tommy Rees played quarterback for Notre Dame and was on the Irish team that lost to Alabama in the 2012-13 BCS National Championship Game. He got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Northwestern before joining Notre Dame as a quarterbacks coach in 2017. He replaced Chip Long as the offensive coordinator following the 2019 season and held that role ever since.
When Brian Kelly left for LSU, it was actually considered an important coup that Rees chose to stay and work for Marcus Freeman instead of moving on.
