Jessica Timmons went down awkwardly in the first quarter of Alabama’s quarterfinal matchup with Tennessee in the SEC Tournament.

Timmons buckled over with a leg injury around the three-point line past the halfway mark of the first quarter in Greenville. Kristy Curry and her training staff were out on the floor quickly after the officials stopped play to check on Timmons. They got her up relatively fast but they had to help her off the court as she went immediately to the locker room.

To this point, there is no update on her status for the remainder of the game. Kristy Curry didn’t provide one heading into halftime but did note how the moment may have affected their team from then on in the first half.

“At the end of the day, I thought, when Jess went down, we looked a little shook up,” said Curry to Brooke Weisbrod as she headed to the locker room. “So we’ve got to get in the half and compose ourselves a little bit.”

Timmons is the third-leading scorer for Alabama at 11.4 points per game to go with 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. She has produced as a full-time starter for the team at just under 28 minutes per game.

Before her injury, she had scored four points by making both shot attempts while grabbing a rebound and blocking a shot as well.

Timmons is a junior that’s in her first season with the Crimson Tide. She started her career at NC State where she spent two seasons with the Wolfpack

Missing a starter is a tough position for Alabama to find itself in within just minutes of the start of their postseason. Those are their present circumstances, though, until there’s more word regarding Timmons or her injury.

Curry critical of physical play, lack of foul calls in first half vs. Tennessee

Alabama is facing a 42-29 deficit in Greenville after half number one in their quarterfinal in the SEC Tournament against Tennessee. However, for all the frustrating moments in the half, the officiating seems to be troubling Kristy Curry and the Tide the most.

Curry spoke with Brooke Weisbrod on the SEC Network on her way to the locker room. When sharing her first-half assessment, she made it clear that she can’t understand how the referees are currently calling the game through 20 minutes.

“Well, I mean, we’ve got blood on our noses and all over our faces and there’s no foul calls for the first 10 minutes of the game. That’s hard to understand but that’s not an excuse, said Curry.

“We’ve got to be more aggressive,” Curry said. “That’s on us. We have to be more aggressive.”

Curry was clearly displeased with the whistles in the first half, even so much as to earn a technical foul in the second quarter.
