Kalen DeBoer raves about Alabama wideout Kendrick Law: 'He can absolutely fly'
New Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is known as an offensive mastermind who has gotten the most out of the passing game at all of his coaching stops. And at SEC Media Days, he raved about a weapon on the Crimson Tide roster that has the potential to be a breakout star in his offensive scheme.
Wide receiver Kendrick Law is entering his third season with Alabama, an impressive athlete who DeBoer revealed some staggering numbers about that he’s posted in Tuscaloosa this offseason.
“He hit 23.6 mph in workouts, and he can absolutely fly … on top of being a 450 lb bench guy,” DeBoer said according to Cole Cubelic.
Law’s numbers are nothing short of freaky, especially for a wideout listed at 5-foot-11, 201 pounds on Alabama’s roster.
Law played high school football at Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, Louisiana where he was a four-star prospect. Listed as an athlete, he was ranked as the No. 4 ATH and the No. 91 overall player for the 2022 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

At Captain Shreve, Law played receiver, safety, and special teams while also being a standout track and field athlete. Placing second in the Louisiana Class 5A state track meet with a 10.48-second 100-meter dash time while also excelling in the 200-meter dash (22.05 seconds) and the long jump (22 feet, 8 inches).
Law has translated that athleticism to the gridiron at the college in small doses during his two seasons with Alabama. Appearing in nine games during his true freshman season where he caught eight passes for 103 yards, also contributing on special teams with five tackles in 2022.
Last season Law’s role expanded, appearing in all but one game last season for the Crimson Tide where in 13 games he caught 15 passes for 135 yards while making an impact on special teams yet again. Recording two tackles but also serving as the team’s primary kick returner with 17 kickoff returns for 405 yards.
This upcoming season it will be fascinating to see how Law’s speed and overall skillset are utilized in DeBoer’s offense. A scheme that has produced not one, but two 1,000-yard receivers in each of his last two seasons as the head coach for the Washington Huskies. Which paired with the arm strength of quarterback Jalen Milroe could position Law for a breakout season for the Crimson Tide.
