Alabama historical streak snapped by Texas A&M in first half

Against Texas A&M on Saturday night, Alabama had a pair of streaks that exemplified their recent dominance snapped by the Aggies in the first half. Alabama’s best-in-nation streak of quarters without trailing on the scoreboard was broken, along with facing their largest deficit in their last 23 games.
Alabama streaks broken by Texas A&M
Coming into the game against the Aggies on Saturday, Alabama had led their opponents for 59 straight quarters. Their streak was the longest since 1950 for any FBS team. Since the 2020 season only two teams had a lead against Alabama at all, with Georgia and Ole Miss accomplishing the feat on Oct. 17 and Oct. 10 of 2020.
The last time Alabama trailed in a football game was the third quarter against Georgia last year, where the Crimson Tide would regain the lead and win 41-24.
The Aggies scored a field goal to take the lead on their first drive of the game, and scored two touchdowns to end the first quarter with a 17-7 lead.
The ten point deficit is also notable for being the largest losing margin that Alabama has faced since 2019 against LSU. The Crimson Tide had not been down to their opponent by ten points in 23 consecutive games.

A&M attempting major upset win
In a game that was circled by many fans and analysts before the season began, A&M was thought to be one of the biggest challenges to Alabama’s dominance in the SEC. After losing to Arkansas and Mississippi State earlier this season, the Aggies have dropped from being a top-25 ranked team before they even met Alabama.
Despite their early season troubles, the Aggies jumped out early and in impressive fashion against the Crimson Tide. Going into halftime the Aggies command a 24-`10 lead over Alabama in front of their home crowd at Kyle Field.
The Aggies lead Alabama in yardage, first downs, turnovers and time of possession. While both teams had an interception, even Alabama’s interception thrown was a more painful one as it came on a pass thrown from the Aggies 1-yard line.
The Crimson Tide also had a fumble lost on a botched handoff to running back Brian Robinson Jr.
