Alabama injury update: Kalen DeBoer provides latest on Kobe Prentice, others
Alabama was without two key receivers by the end of the Vanderbilt game due to injury, with Kendrick Law missing the contest altogether and Kobe Prentice exiting it after a huge hit.
Coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on both on Wednesday during an SEC teleconference call, and the update actually sounded fairly optimistic.
“Both of them out here going through workouts,” DeBoer said. “On track like we thought they should be, making progress towards the weekend. Wouldn’t say that they’re full go yet, but they’re on pace we had hoped. So getting some work in, some individual and some team work there too. It’s progressing along and they’re doing a good job.”
Law missed the contest against Vanderbilt entirely after a back-and-forth during the week on the Alabama injury report. He was listed as questionable midway through the week, only to be downgraded to out by gametime.
On the season, Law has recorded two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown, while rushing twice for six yards. Prentice has been a little more productive, going for eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Prentice was injured during the Vanderbilt game when he took a massive shot from two different players.
Getting either or both back this weekend against South Carolina would be a huge lift for the Alabama. In addition to those two injuries, DeBoer provided an update on linebacker Yhonzae Pierre.
“Yes, Yhonzae will not be with us this weekend, just with his injury,” DeBoer said. “I’m glad you brought that up. I haven’t addressed that, actually didn’t know the information until later yesterday afternoon on exactly where that stood. Expecting him to be out for this weekend. But we’ll see kind of see after that.”
Alabama is set to face South Carolina at noon ET on Saturday with a broadcast on ABC.
