Alabama linebacker Sterling Dixon enters NCAA transfer portal
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Alabama linebacker Sterling Dixon has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Dixon just wrapped up his true freshman season in Tuscaloosa, only spending one year with the Crimson Tide. Now, a young linebacker is back on the market for teams to pursue.
Dixon played in three games with Alabama, opting to redshirt the 2024 season. This means he will have four years of eligibility at his next stop. Plenty of untapped potential is there with time to find it.
Just one tackle was recorded when Dixon was on the field. The season opener against Western Kentucky saw him play mop-up duty, having his lone contribution of the year. He also appeared against Missouri and Mercer.
Dixon played high school football at Mobile (AL) Spanish Fort, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 209 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Auburn and LSU were two other programs going after Dixon coming out of high school. Both made serious pushes despite his commitment to Alabama. LSU’s was earlier in the cycle while Auburn went hard right before national signing day.
Ultimately, Dixon decided to stick with the Crimson Tide and play under Kalen DeBoer and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

But inserting his name into the transfer portal means Auburn and LSU will have another opportunity to sign Dixon if they choose.
Alabama tight end to enter NCAA transfer portal
Alabama Crimson Tide tight end Ty Lockwood plans to enter the transfer portal. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.
Lockwood recorded the first stats of his career in 2024. In the Mercer game on November 16, Lockwood caught one pass for five yards. This comes one year after Lockwood used a redshirt season with the Crimson Tide.
In 2023, Lockwood played in two games against Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga. However, he did not record a reception or a carry in either one of those games. Only playing in two games, he was able to use a redshirt and still has four seasons of eligibility remaining.
