Will Anderson explains how Alabama is preparing to play in the Texas heat
The weather was ideal in Alabama‘s week 1 home game versus Utah State last weekend, a 7:30 p.m. kickoff where the weather stayed around 70 degrees for the majority of the game. But conditions will be a little different in this week’s matchup at Texas, where the high in Austin this upcoming game day is 96 degrees, and the game kicks off at noon.
Alabama linebacker Will Anderson was asked about how he and the Crimson Tide are preparing for the Texas heat ahead of their matchup against the Longhorns.
“You know we just got done lifting and they were giving us sodium shots, salt packets, Right Stuff, giving us hydration tests, making sure we’re doing everything the right way and make sure our bodies are ready. So the strength staff and the training staff have been doing a phenomenal job of helping us get ready for this game on Saturday,” Anderson said.
The Crimson Tide seem ready to combat the heat, as they come off of an impressive 52-0 win over the Aggies. Anderson was the second leading tackler in Alabama’s shut out recording five tackles, a tackle for loss, and one quarterback hurry.
This may sound like a good game for most, but Will Anderson is not most. Anderson had at least one sack in all but four games last season, ending the year with 17.5 sacks and leading the nation with 34.5 tackles for loss.
The Tide had the chance to rotate a lot of defensive players into the game during their blowout win Saturday, but the story may not be the same in this week’s matchup versus the Longhorns. Hopefully for Anderson, that means more snaps played and more chances to sack freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers in his first true test of his collegiate career.
Will Anderson offers insight into conversations with offensive line coach Eric Wolford
Alabama edge Will Anderson knows a thing or two about offensive lines, as he punished nearly every unit he faced last season recording at least one sack in all but four games last year. Alabama’s offensive line has faced some criticism, and he spoke on how they looked throughout camp and his conversations with new offensive line coach Eric Wolford.

“You know for me, me and Wolf talk a lot. We talk more than what you think and when they have a really great day or I see an improvement I always go up to him and give him that look like they’re coming along, they’re looking good,” Anderson said.
Anderson spoke on the improvement he’s seen from the offensive line unit through Wolford, and what he brings to the table as a coach.

“And he has tremendous energy and what he brings to that room is something I think they needed and it’s been really great. You can see the improvement, so they’ve been doing a really good job of getting us better, I know we’ve been doing a good job of getting them better, but I love those guys and they’ve been doing a great job,” Anderson said.
The Crimson Tide offensive line faces one of the nation’s best defenses in the nation at practice, and if they can contain Anderson and their defensive front day in and day out, they’ll surely be able to stop just about every other front seven in the nation.
