Alabama offers 4-star TE Ty Lockwood
Thompson’s Station (Tenn.) Independence four-star tight end Ty Lockwood received an offer from Alabama Friday afternoon. He has been committed to Ohio State since Aug. 19, 2021.
Lockwood is the No. 132 overall prospect and No. 9 tight end in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Tennessee.
The Crimson Tide currently have no tight ends in their 2023 recruiting class. However, the Buckeyes have two in Lockwood and Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star Jelani Thurman. Lockwood, a 6-foot-5, 225 pound pass catcher, is currently the ninth-highest ranked recruit in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class.
Lockwood currently has 17 offers. According to the On3 Visit Center, the only school he has visited is Ohio State.

Lockwood also has an On3 NIL Valuation of $127K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
The tight end received praise from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power during the Battle 7v7 event in Las Vegas.
“The On300 tight end was the focal point of Nashville’s Dream Team running crisp routes underneath and making contested grabs over the middle and along the sidelines,” Power wrote. “Lockwood is sure-handed and impressed as the obvious top target on this 7-on-7 squad; he’ll be even more dangerous surrounded by more talent in Columbus.”
