Jalen Milroe previews SEC Championship Game | Alabama Football

Jalen Milroe stamped his name into the Iron Bowl history books with his incredible game-winning touchdown pass with under a minute left in Alabama‘s 27-24 win over rival Auburn.

On fourth and goal play from the Auburn 31-yard line with 32 seconds left, the Crimson Tide needed a miracle down four points to the Tigers on the road, and Milroe delivered, finding Isaiah Bond in the corner of the end zone for a game-winning touchdown that would stun the crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The play marks one of the best of the college football season and kept the Crimson Tide’s record perfect versus SEC opponents this season, and ahead of Alabama’s conference championship matchup with Georgia, Milroe pulled back the curtain on his late-game heroics.

“Honestly with that play, it was all about finding that one-on-one and it worked out perfectly for us in finding that one-on-one, and Isaiah did a great job getting open and getting enough space to get the ball. So that was all a group effort,” Milroe said during the SEC Championship Game Student-Athlete Teleconference. “They rushed two guys so I had enough time, the offensive line did a great job holding up their blocks and just being sound and fundamental within their blocks.”

Milroe and Bond may go down as the two most memorable players of the game-winning play, but Milroe also made sure to give credit to the rest of his teammates on the field and the Crimson Tide coaching staff for preparing the offense for the big moment.

“All the guys I was on the field with doing their job, getting to the end zone, so a lot of keys, factors into what exactly happened as far as Isaiah getting the ball,” Milroe said. “And then another thing too that was mentioned was we work that play every single week throughout this whole season. So that I can honestly say contributed to that play. Whether it was completed or not completed, we can honestly say that we repped it and we were prepared for the moment.”

Surely Milroe was on cloud nine after making a once-in-a-lifetime play in one of the biggest rivalry games across all sports. But with an SEC Championship game against the defending back-to-back national champions now looming, Milroe was asked if he’s put the statement win and play behind him.

“100%, it’s over with,” Milroe said. “That game’s over with and now it’s about refocusing and working on cleaning up some things from Auburn and then focus on what the task is which is today.”

Milroe will look to keep his hot streak going this Saturday as the Crimson Tide take on Georgia in the SEC Championship game at 4:00 p.m. in a matchup airing on CBS.
