Alabama receiver says he'll be back for 2022 season

Alabama receiver Agiye Hall will return for the 2022 season, he said in an Instagram post Friday. The true freshman wrote his Instagram caption in Greek, with the words translating to “I will be back.”

Hall was rumored to be a candidate for the transfer portal after not seeing much action this past season. He played in just two games, including the national championship against Georgia

The receiver was thrust into a larger role in that game following an injury to Jameson Williams. He finished with a pair of catches for 52 yards in the Alabama loss.

Shortly after the national championship game, Hall posted a tweet apologizing for the loss. “I’ll be back …I’m sorry Bama nation,” it read.

Hall was a four-star recruit and top 50 overall player in the class of 2021 according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He committed to the Crimson Tide over offers from Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and plenty others.

Alabama finished the season with a 13-2 record after falling in the national title game. The Crimson Tide earned their seventh trip to the College Football Playoff, a number that ranks first among all teams. They defeated previously unbeaten Cincinnati in a semifinal game to advance to the championship.

With Williams, Slade Bolden and John Metchie III declaring for the NFL draft, Hall will be expected to play a bigger role in the 2022 season. Metchie also missed the national championship after suffering a torn ACL in early December.

Tight end Cameron Latu is set to be the leading returning pass catcher. He finished this past season with 26 catches for 410 yards and eight touchdowns.

Despite all the losses, Alabama should still be very much in the national conversation in 2022. The Crimson Tide open next season against Utah State on Sept. 3.
