Alabama receiver Tyler Harrell wearing walking boot ahead of season opener
Alabama receiver Tyler Harrell was dealing with injury in the time leading up to their season opener, and is wearing a boot before the game. Harrell was a big addition from the transfer portal for Alabama out of Louisville, but was unable to participate in a full training camp with the team after suffering a sprained foot.
As the season drew closer, head coach Nick Saban shared that Harrell was getting more and more work during practice and was gaining confidence in a return to the field. Unfortunately, it appears that this week will not be the one he returns for.
Tyler Harrell wearing walking boot for season opener
“I have not seen Tyler Harrell in warm-ups for Alabama,” explained AL.com’s Mike Rodak before the game. “He was dealing with a foot sprain for most of camp.”
As the game drew closer, Rodak provided another update — showing that Harrell was not going to be available for Alabama in their season opener.

“Tyler Harrell is standing on the sidelines in sweatpants with a walking boot on his right foot.”
On3’s Jimmy Stein recently broke down what the Alabama receiver room looks like in his perspective ahead of the season opener — and where Harrell could fit into it all.
“The big surprise here is true freshman Kobe Prentice as a WR1 at the “H” or slot receiver position,” said Stein. “No one was predicting that in July, probably not even Kobe’s mom. He has been perhaps the biggest surprise of fall camp. Keep this in mind though, technically speaking: the freshmen generally learn one spot. So Kobe knows “H”. Jermaine Burton, Traeshon Holden and Ja’Corey Brooks know it, too. So there will be instances in which one of those veterans is at H. Holden ahead of Brooks is not shocking based on Holden’s performance in the second scrimmage. However, let’s remember that more than 3 receivers comprise the first team “rotation”. My guess is that we see plenty of Holden, Burton, Brooks and Prentice with some Tyler Harrell and Christian Leary sprinkled in.”
