Alabama removes bio of Darius Miles from website following capital murder charge
Alabama basketball has removed the biography of forward Darius Miles from its website following the news that Miles was charged with capital murder on Sunday. Miles was reportedly detained for his connection in the shooting of a woman that occurred in Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa Police and University of Alabama Police responded to a reported shooting on The Strip at approximately 1:45 a.m. CT Sunday morning, according to Charlie Potter with BamaOnline. Then by 11:30 a.m., the 23-year-old victim had died from those injuries.
The victim was shot while sitting in a vehicle around Grace Street and University Boulevard, according to Captain Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Police Department. UAPD officers were near the area and quickly responded to the scene.
Miles was in his third season with the Crimson Tide but had appeared in only six games in 2022-23 before being ruled out the remainder of the year with an ankle injury. The year prior in the 2021-22 season, he averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds across 17.2 minutes per game.

Alabama statement following arrest of Darius Miles
“The University of Alabama’s utmost priority is the safety and well-being of the campus community. We are grieved by the incident that occurred near campus last night and extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends. We are grateful for the quick and thorough response of law enforcement and emergency response teams, and we will continue to fully support the ongoing investigation. We were made aware of the recent charge against student-athlete Darius Miles; he has been removed from campus and is no longer a member of the Alabama men’s basketball team,” the release stated.
